My buddy Jeff, i use to work with in a call center, use to go on all the time, & i would be so bored waiting for calls to come in & we had access to the internet but i would get bored of every website, forum, & video on YouTube. You name it.
Then he told me about the Slap Forum.
We would spend 6 of the 8 hours lurkin on here & it killed so much time.
Then the I.T. dudes found out what we were doing at work the whole time & blocked Sports, Entertainment, Forums, etc. so we couldn't do shit. I ended up getting laid off but even at home, i spend hours on this a week.
-
i found it lurking a couple years ago and never turned back.
-
i hang out with just green enough, always had a subscription to slap, and skated eventually it all clicked

that's rad. as a matter of fact, me & that dude Jeff were so hyped on your avatar.. we would laugh at it & became something we would just say.
FUCK YOU I'M AN ANT EATER! good stuff
i found it lurking a couple years ago and never turned back.
yeah, it's definately addicting & not to mention sick!
-
The last forum I posted on went bye-bye. I came here, lurked for a while, then started posting.
-
i did it more or less the same way, i was working at a call center and would get retardedly bored so i started bringing dvds to watch while i worked, once i got bored of that i just started talking shit on every forum i could find, at the time this one was good, especially compared to the others like skateboardrumors and transworld etc. now its much worse but im still stuck here when im not skating.
-
One of my homies made it in the top 10 for One In A Million, and some dude said he had scare crow steez, so I tried to post to defend his honor but it wouldn't let me unless I created an account. I got addicted, this is the only MB I belong too...
-
A friend showed it to me the first couple weeks into my first year at university
I was doing fine until I started lurking, then posting, my grades were on a steady decline from then out
However I have no regrets
-
i migrated here after delphi started dwidling in activity. i still miss that place like no other.

anyone remember "skateboardrumors.com?"
I'm pretty sure I got the link to Slap off their message board years ago.
-
call center. boredom.
-
josh stewart was talking shit on it in some interview or something
-
I was looking for ramp plans and then I stumbled into the forums.
-
Lurked for a bit then signed up because it was the only place I could actually talk to people who skated who actually care about skateboarding.
-
a friend of mine pointed me towards this forum after the local sk8skates forum got bricked. its been many years and i haven't looked back. i miss mnctech.
-
Working various jobs on computers. SLAP was the one message board where people were really knowledgable about skating and it was always pretty active. I work in a call center now. I'm bored.
-
i was unpacking boxes with old skate magazines after moving, the first one on one of the boxes was the slap with the chief on the cover (may '99) so i decided to check the site and signed up for the mb.
-
Started posting like 6 years ago, I can't remember though I think through lurking delphi I somehow ended up here.
No wait I was dating HalfCabGirl at the time. She got me into it
-
Boredom at work. I used to lurk here and I would get so fucking annoyed at those ELITEST ASSHOLES at Slap....but like a train wreck I couldn't look away. Now I've spent 18days, 14 hours and 34 minutes of my life at this place. I should probably be docked that amount of time from my pay to make up for it since I'm on here during work hours 99% of the time.
-
I needed a place to live and my friend Richard needed someone to sub let his room for a summer while he went to Europe, one of the room mates was John Trippe who was the original web master, he told me about it while he was working, I have been on here ever since. That was way back when 2000 or 2001.
-
never lurked

I had taken to online rap battling and came across one of beans's posts when I googled "multi" and I've just been addicted to it ever since.
-
I was an admin at Thrasher, rescripted a couple of lines of code, and post whored there, but lurked here a little but my best friend really got me hooked on it with "check out the ______ thread, shit's great" comments. I got addicted, waited until I felt that I knew the forums, then immediately got into a flame war with "Wise Penguin" who I demolished with the power of Photoshop and self effacing humor. Kicked his ass. He started it though.

Lurked here for a while without an account because you could find out shit here way before anywhere else, then they locked me out without having an account. As soon as I had to be logged in I would post. I used to want to post something from time to time, but signing up seemed like a hassle.
-
I read the transcripts in the mags and got a few laughs and checked it out. Lurked for a long time just reading rumors and getting a few laughs. Then, recently decided to jump in and join in on the fun.

And then you murdered chicken parm?
-
The local Toronto message board started censoring any link to Slap. Since then, I've been here full time. I also work evenings and weekends.
-
i began as a bulb, and have blossomed into a beautiful, racist tulip.
-
I had only came at first to read headlines and stuff but I have recentley discovered that Slap is a fun way to kill time and see all types of interesting shit.
-
donovan said something about it on one of the buttery ass mondays so i checked it out.
-
bored out of my mind
-
SLeeping on MFS's couch for 3 months he lurked everyday, so i started as well.
-
First thread my homie showed me was the beautiful women thread..
i honestly came on here just for that for a few days.. then eventually lurked on everything else
-
Funny how no one mentioned hearing about the infamous JT thread and flocking here at a chance of talking to him.
-
the crail board died and i immigrated here with a couple of others.
-
i used to read the news on the front page and lurk the boards, but i never posted because jesse scared me
-
i used to run a texas skateboard message board and one of the more interesting posters was always negative about every clip that'd go up and it would annoy the shit out of all the kids that chatted on my board but i thought he made the place more interesting because otherwise every thread would be just a bunch of dick riding. he mentioned in passing one day that he wasn't a hater, just that he was more inline with the slap board when it came to how he felt about skating which got me interested in checking it out. around that time a friend of mine was a top contender for 1 in a million and so i came here to try and defend all the hate he was catching on the board, got flammed, felt like shit about it but then wanted more.
-
sluggo called me 'where did danny way do the 3 flip noseslide...it's in Richmond...'
'uh...Brighouse? Why?'
'These kids on the slapboard....'
'the what?'
-
Was during an interview?
-
Sorry. I had to. It's been a while.
-
good to have you back....
-
By the way, your Concrete article on Skatepark graffiti from a few years ago was in my bathroom the other day. I liked the tag "Dave".
-
I couldn't stand the way people were talking on german messageboards and then checked this place out, but left after a few posts. Forgot my password and made a new account with an email address that had my actual name in it. I got beat up several times online but learned a valuable lesson and stayed nevertheless.
-
post that picture of you and that huge nose.
-
i dabbled in the
quartersnacks 5050skateboarding, fecal face, and metrospective forums (now officialnewyork) before i landed here.
-
So snuggly.

a friend of mine pointed me towards this forum after the local sk8skates forum got bricked.
pretty much the same as me. SK8skates board was so dope. To bad spam killed it. I probably waste a good third of my workday at this place.
-
frisco got me into it. he told me it's easy to lure little kids off of this thing and next thing you know i'm almost a slap pal.
-
always read the news on the front page, somehow got in this msg board as a lurker and then finally started posting. took me like 4 years i think to reach the pal mark.
-
I don't think I'm ever gonna get there. I've been around the 800-900 level for months.
-
maybe you'll make it before the zombies of 2012 get you... who knows?
-
Booze, skating, chicks, bro's, sarcasm, irony, love, hate, being an ex slap-pal that shoulda never focused, boobs, making a kid show his balls for a fake fully flared link, wanting to leave work to go post on slap, whores, Jamie Thomas call outs, bentmode posts, bullshit, fast times at ridgemont high, gnars, and kooks.
Its why I can't leave

I read an interview in The Skateboard Mag with Raymond Molinar. He was complaining about this place.
I thought "who gives a shit about a message board?" so I checked it out.
I instantly connected with the type of humor that's around here.
So I've stuck around ever since.

Haha, I forgot about that!
He wrote "Slap" on them with a sharpie if I remember, then said it burned.

I found this place like two years ago on google. I thought it was really shitty and barely ever came here at first, then it grew on me.
-
shit, i've had a few accounts on slap since 2000. I had the same one since 06 and focused it a few weeks ago when i was forced to stop smoking herb. This place is llike a vortex..... I'd finally hit the over 1000 posts...... fuckin a. Anyways i found it due to looking at the SLAP site when i was a kid.
-
I was reading a SLAP mag at school and they would get a new one every month, so i read the shit out of one and then another finally came a month later... but in closely reading i found the Forum Fodder section and i thought the topics and comments were hilarious so i checked it out, and i was very satisfied hahahahahahah

In highschool (02ish) some kid pointed me in the direction of Digitalskate.net as a means to just get my grubby skate-hungry mitts on any sort of skate related media floating around on the internet, where I watched every single obscure homie-vid promo or montage I could find until the site went down. Then Skateperception sort of picked up where digitalskate left off and I just sorta hopped on over there for the same reason, this was before youtube I think or else my foray into mb'ing never would have happened.
Anyway, I'm neither a filmer or editor, and posts in "anything goes" (they're equivelant of the Whatever section here) aren't even added toward your post count. I was truely a man with no country over there.
Then one day, my good buddy Dave who's been on here since the beginning of Slap would always try to bring shit up that he heard about on this supposed Slap messageboard in real life conversation as if any of it was really going to strike it big with us real people. We rl kook'd him several times for this until finally one night I just spontaneously registered and started spamming the shit out of this place as I continue to do.
This place was my first exposure to any sort of elitist online culture. I remember within my first couple posts I got flamed by Guile for posting self-footage in the photo/video section. It was a dark moment in my life. It was then I realized that this place is sorta like jumping rope, you've got to get a rhythm for how things work before you jump in, unless you want to end up like GWB...

the bitch tripped me on purpose. but i gave her life long lip sores, so whos laughing now?
-
I started on Delphi, this guy from Montreal or Toronto kept talking things about SLAP's message board, it was around 2000 or 2001 if my memory serve. I forgot what I post but Jah and other veterans kept fired back, it was so funny that I was hooked.. I do not know if lurking here really help my English that much but it definitely helped.
Though they redid the board last year, for some stupid reason I had to register a new account.
Anyway, SLAP was a really good magazine, it is really weird to see it had to go digital.
-
2002 i started lurking but never signed up... i think i then signed up in 06 but never posted... then i resigned up last year to help me procrastinate, pretty psyched that I did

Word on the street is that the technique works with 100% efficiency. One of the most informative classic threads ever!
-
i started posting here because rawbertson came and started the "hatersink" thread.
i came just to kill him but like a murderer i always return to the scene of the crime.

When I was a young guy, a package arrived on my doorstep from R. "S" Boyce, adressed to Biggums the G. I opened it up, and inside was a brand-new copy of the RDS video and a note to some guy on the slap message boards named Biggums the G. This guy lived in Canada, but was having all his mail forwarded to upstate NY. Kind of a random occurence, but I wandered into this place and haven't looked back since.

Yea.
I went so far as to make a fake FF... and after 1 minute or so of skate footy of the Lakai team, it busts into some black midget getting railed by a giant cock.
I told the kid "I'll post the link to FF for everyone if you write SLAP PALS on your balls with Sharpie and post a pic.
The world almost stopped spinning that night.
-
I think around 06 i signed up and posted for a while then got over it a bit. Signed up again late last year, and check the forums almost every day.
In 06 the majority of the topics i read were pretty good and it made for good reading.
-
i randomly found this board

It's the only board I go on.

My homey Drew turned me on to it when I first moved to Victoria 2 years ago.
-
I lurked on those skaterumor boards and found a thread where they made fun of the slap boards, I took a look and never left
-
i checked it out one day after hearing one of the wheelbite guys talking about it. i got my first computer in 03 and the local message boards were going off at the time, then i remembered about this place. i think i lurked every couple of weeks for almost two years, before making my first account. meeting a lot of different slap pals has been pretty rad so far. seeing grimcity throw up all over himself on a trip to vermont was priceless, as was making balloon animal weiners at a cici's pizza buffet with babykillaseason and doctor handsome. i met mexicanspaniard at denver park a few days after meeting lenny and poocrusher. artichoke lurked me at a spikes hotdogs in boston, and so on. it's been an interesting thing so far, even if it does suck periodically
-
lurked for video links. lurkage for awhile until i figured id become a local

sheer boredom at the job.
i lurked a while here and there, then found my way to funny myspace pics thread and signed up to join in on the laughs.

...and with all the gear we had, no pics? Nobody even used a cellphone camera?
I reckon there's a reason that Vermont isn't famous for its burritos.
-
My creator programmed me to bring down the Master Control Program from the inside. My light cycle ran out of juice and I ended up in this sleazy part of the internet. I bumped into another program that went by the name of "China White" and he offered me a vial of something he called "cyber juice". Since then, I've developed an addiction and I can't make it out of the SLAP mainframe. Somebody help me? Please?

Basicaly I've been reading SLAP for 5 years and one day I was like "Okay dude, I'm gonna hit this place up." So, I did. Then I got a ton of shit, layed low and there yah go. here i am again.
-
Hey I know you.
-
i used to lurk the o.g slap forums because of the 'download all the videos' thread, although i think it was called 'download old world and 101 vids'. That thread was amazing.
-
started trying to get links for And Now
then just stayed because of all the hilarious shit talking
-
Back when I just got into skating I used to frequent heyday.
At about March 06 I following a link from there that led to here.
The place was a comedy goldmine. I lurked hard and read as much as I could. Only 2 weeks ago did I finally make an account.
I'd say the highlights were Small Time skates colonel boards and JT having several blackbox related threads pulled because they made him feel bad.
-
I timed it perfectly to get the mindfield link.
-
funny story, actually: I had been real depressed for a few months prior to learning about this site. It finally got to the point where one morning I woke up and decided I didn't wanna live anymore. I went upstairs to my parent's bedroom and loaded up the shotgun, but before I went and did the deed I was about to go and check my email one last time to see if I got any new myspace comments. Well...low and behold: my little brother had left the slap forums up on the family computer. I read the "things you are not stoked on" thread and realized that I had finally found a community of truly miserable motherfuckers I can relate to. In a way...slap saved my life.
P.S.: I don't even skateboard, yo.
-
i used 2 b a 5L4P her0 bak in 2007 L0l
-
Bought an issue of SLAP and discovered the forums.
-
A shop dude was preaching to us what skating was really about and that SLAP was all about the realest dudes like pueleo and huf. Checked it out and now i kinda just lurk and post.
-
skateboardrumors shut down
-
I heard Pops was off Lakai and on Converse. So I searched "Anthony Pappalardo on Converse" on Google and a Slap topic came up, I eventually just grew onto the slap forums.
-
i suffocated a young, aryan male and later found out he was gay. panic stricken, i joined slap to learn the probability of it being a hate crime, and to cope. this is a community of cope. the scorn is still there, but i can sometimes look at myself in the mirror again, and view my handsome reflection.
-
remember when slap was all about voxtrot?
-
been lurking for a few years...posting for probably 2.5 years but my first account was deleted when things got weird. i just remember always reading interviews, even 5 years ago, and people talking about "the message board haters" and i couldnt figure out what fucking message board was making that kind of impact. it sure as hell wasnt transworld or thrasher, so i came here.
-
i liked the cut of y'alls jib
so i set sail on the S.S. slapsticle
it was all whirlwind, heat and flash. within a week we killed my parents and hit the road.
-

hahaha.
I joined just after checking out the main site and was obsessed with anything and everything skateboarding. When the boards were white the first time, mad long ago.

In '02, I was a bored, adolescent douche. Everyone got annoyed with it, and I was rightfully put in my place. So, I went on lurker status and kinda stayed there. I like the ridiculous stuff that's posted here, which is why I keep lurking. I've stopped skating long ago, unless I'm going to the cigarette store. That's the only exception.
-
I was trying to find a copy of the lakai video online, I started an account to see if someone would PM me the link - no one ever did. Now here I am.

a picture of a friend wound up on the funny myspace/livejournal thread and i wound up wasting 2 hours going through every page of classic slap
then i joined.
