hell no, i paid for the damn thing, i'm gonna get every last pop, grind and powerslide i can out of it.
-
yeah, for sure. i like when little kids ask you to "try your skateboard". i almost always say yes. also, i get syked when im at a skatepark and some kid offers to let me ride his bike so he can use my board.
-
From now on only if I know the person real well. Let some random dude try my board at the skate park and I had my back turned for literally like ten seconds and next thing I know the motherfucker was gone; he had ran off with it. This was just like last week too. So yeah, after that, no more letting people see my board. Plus, you never know if the person has gum on their shoe or might crack a ply or two trying a trick, so that's another reason to say no.
-
Why not? It's just a skateboard.

That's why.

It depends who it is. Some people don't respect what skateboarding is or means and they ask to try your board like "I can do this, this is for kids". They get the finger and a firm "no". But then there's some homeless dudes that live in the park by the local mini ramp that are always down for a sesh - yes, they skate - but sometimes they don't have a board and they just want to take a run in the mini... absolutely, they can use my board!. They never disrespect the wood, they're always appreciative and they'd do the same for me.

I usually give it to those people that don't respect it, tell them to use it at their own risk and see how they fall. 9 out of 10 people that ask me to ride my board try it for the first time so there's no real risk of them breaking it since they can't ollie or anything.
-
Every time I'm asked. I just keep an eye on them the entire time.
-
as long as their shoes aren't muddy.
-
At the local park, all the time. I'll take a smoke break and let groms ride around all they want.
-
yeah because they gave it right back to me sayin' my trucks are too loose haha
-
Yes, if itīs kids i do.
-
i enjoy watching the youngsters ride my cruiser.

I never thought that there are homeless people who skate, sounds surreal...
-
Only little kids and random bums.
-
Only friends, but they have their own so it's not usually an issue. More of a "hey let me see how that/those deck/wheels/trucks feel/s", try a trick and trade back. I just don't trust random people with my shit.
-
I highly doubt that anybody would compensate me if he/she broke my board. I would probably get a "sorry," at most.
I'm down with friends or someone who just wants to feel what my set-up is like, because they'll end up getting Deluxe wood next time. However, some kid, who doesn't know what he was talking about, told me that my skateboard feels like a Walmart/Target board.
-
let whoever ride it whenever they want. if it's someone i know who skates, i know they'd at least TRY to hit me back if they broke my shit. if it's someone i don't know and they don't skate then there's that chance i'll get to see someone bust their ass. if it's a girl who has no idea what she's doing then i'll help. it kinda makes you feel like a tool, but at least i don't have some chick with a busted hip on my conscience.
-
yeah because they gave it right back to me sayin' my trucks are too loose haha
-

.
-
it really depends. if it's a little kid then no doubt but if it's an older person i get a little nervous, as if it's my baby they're playing with. there was this fatass at the park a few weeks back and he asked to ride my board. i could literally see my board buckling under the weight. he kept trying to roll of this box and everytime i would imagine him snapping my board.
-
the best are probably the hood as dudes, i usually let anyone ride my board if im not trying a trick or something
-
Usually yes, unless my board is new and crispy, then no.
-
its usually just if im not using it, like if i'm taking a break. most of the time my friend and i just trade off whenever we feel like giving someone else's board a try.
-
I used to be superstitious about other people riding my board. I had a monogamous relationship with my wood. I've lightened up over the years, but I won't let some kid that I know is notorious for breaking/cracking boards (which is usually the reason why they're without one in the first place) ride. Learn to land right on your own shit before you ask to ride mine.
I also have a spare setup in my car (a lesson I learned once when I took off so fast from home to go session a spot that I left my board at home and too many times having board malfunctions ruining a session). If you're cool, you get to ride my spare if you broke your shit trying something hard. I want to see magic happen sometimes.
-
I saw some home town hero snap 4 boards in 1 session, trying a shove tail grab down a skatepark 7 stair. His new board, his old board, his friends deck, and my friends old deck. I don't know how he planned on riding away with his feet basically touching each other upon landing.
-
I usually do but I'm cautious now. I let my friend take it to the park, and he tightened my trucks. Which was fine because he told me it was a full two turns each, but when I set them back, they didn't feel right. And I have those smith grind marks on the nuts so I know where they should be. It was fucking with my head all day and finally I just set it the way it felt, and didn't think about the grind marks.
-
I love to try other boards ... sometimes there is person who has a 8.5 inch board and I NEED to try it out ... same with other unfamiliar boards. just natural.
I usually give my board everybody except kids who have dirty shoe's. the board itself means nothing to me, it's just material you can buy at a shop.
-
pretty much anyone who isnt a crackhead.
no teeth=no board borrowing
-
nope never it wierds me out and i have to either change my whole set up or focus it if someone besides me has ridden it.

Really?! You actually focus it? How many times have you done this?
twice idk why but it pisses me off really bad and one time i just got a brand new board and my friend did the first ollie on it while i was grabbin a drink and i made him take the board and buy me a new one. i know its wierd but its a huge pet peeve of mine.
-
If its new, no. If not then i'll let my friends do a trick or two on it if their shoes are clean. You never know whos trying to jack you.
-
if its someone who skates I dont mind too much as long as they are only a couple seconds with it. the worst is when some drunk chick is at the park or spot and wants to try rolling on your shit. im not having some girl knock her teeth out with my board.
-

Those boards could have been saved. Don't lend your shit if he busted his like that.
I usually let them use my board if they'll be rolling around. I try and avoid it if they just broke theirs trying something. I'm usually with a few of my friends so if anyone tries to book he's got 3-4 people on his ass.

you're missing out on some good head
-
there are some guys i will not let use my board--dudes who break boards all the time. but other than that, i'll let whoever use my board; it usually doesn't matter, because they ride it for a second and stop and bring it back because they say my trucks are too loose.
-
I ride my trucks rather loose and they're indy lows so any time I let someone ride my board they just complain and give it back. I love it ;D
-
of course, unless its night, at a place neither of us should be at and the guy who wants to see it looks like hed want to stab me and has a posse with him.
-

you sound like the worst friend/skater.
-

this, and the groms can barely get off the ground on my 8.5, let alone do their mobbed kickflips

ok listen for all you kids skating street who are like 16 and younger never let anyone try your board i got jacked like twice i am also the most gullible and accepting person you have probably ever met in your life though its not my fault! i just want to be nice to people.

ok cool think what you want.
-

I'm the same way. I've never focused a board because of it though, because my friends know I hate people riding it so they don't ask.
-
I don't let people ride my board unless they're skateboarders. Why should I? Get your own shit if you want to skate.
-
i only allow the most annoying, whiniest kids to ride my board because they all drop in/roll down a bank and eat shit because my trucks are super loose
:)
-
i don't mind letting kids use my board, i just keep my eye on it
-
since I started skating 8.25 boards no kid wants to ride my board, cause they say its way too big, heavy and I use my trucks too loose
but when some of my best friends, who also ride man size boards, if they want to skate: my board It's available
-
really it's just bum and kid who ask for your board.
because every respectable skater can't skate with other ppl setup
-
it's funny when people you don't expect to skate do something cool, like one time i was skating thorugh this parking lot and it think it was like a law firm or something and a dude was walking to his car and he asked me if he could use my board and he did a heelfip. i thought it was cool, then he drove away in his nice ass BMW.
-
Usually they gave it right back. I have this weird truck thing going on most boards I break in. The front truck for some reason always ends up loose or something. Like if you ride is backwards, it's almost unskateable. I think there was a thread about it. I never have to put any marks on the tail to differentiate because once I step on it, there's a huge difference. Anyone else have this issue?
-
This must be another one of those "worthy" threads I keep hearing about!
I had a monogamous relationship with my wood...
I'm sure this describes the lack of success most of you have had with women.

I know you don't skateboard, but don't drag in useless SPAM to a thread.
-
unless it's like a little kid who wants to try skateboarding then FUCK NO.
something mentally makes me think that if someone else rides my board it will change something, how it feels, the turning of the trucks, SOMETHING, will throw me off.
really a huge pet peeve for some reason.
-

For me, it's always the back truck.

almost the same thing happened to me. i was at the skatepark which is right next to some basketball courts and this kid walks up to me and says "what's your best trick." i assumed since he said "best trick" he didn't know anything. so i showed him then he asked to use my board. he stuck a 360 flip and was just like "yeah i used to skate but this town sucks." i always like these kind of happenings.
-
If it's my friend then yeah of course. Sometimes yes to just some joe anybody. But these are not often the ones asking to ride my skateboard. It's usually some drunk idiot who "used to skate" and wants to try it again. These people I bring the board to, inches of their fingers, then quickly pull it back, ride away on it and say "nooooooo." I tease these people, it is fun.
-
although the dudes my boy i catch him walking and he hasnt skated much since he got a hernia but whenever he asks to use my bord he always gets a full session in and it just dont feel the same afterwards...

yeah i just focused it cuz i was so disgustingly pissed about someone else riding my board and just kinda snapped but that happened when i was younger and now everyone knows not to touch my board and all my friends joke about it.

The thing that struck me most about this clip was when the drunk guy said "god I miss skateboarding." I've heard usedtoskaters say that before, and it just confirms that happily rolling along was the right way to go.
-
I sometimes let kids ride my broad, but only in exchange for a few bucks or a corn muffin. Usually they aren't used to how loose and big it is, and they leave feeling like the boys they are.

HAHA. straight up whiney bitch.
-
I'll let pretty much anyone try my board. Crackheads, wannabe thugs, the tiniest little dudes, drunk bitches, Ryan Sheckler fans, whatever.
Somehow I've never had a board stolen or broken. Twice though I've had someone borrow my board and then get broke off.
It kinda puts a stink on the board - I don't wanna ride a board after someone just bashed their head open using it, gah.
-
if its some hot chick, yes
-

-
the loose trucks thing.
if someone i don't know asks, i try to assess that person before giving them the okay.
-
Oh hell no!
-
I usually interview, drug test and process a background check before I let them skate my board.

Only way to go really...or I smell a lawsuit!

this gangster black dude with a big puffy jacket and diamond earings and all that jazz came up to me and asked to use my board just outside a skatepark a while back, he told me he could kf and I was like, ok bust it, and I hyped this guy up soo much, and he busted it like 3rd try, he was sooo stoked. so was I.
-
if its some fucking idiot than obviously not. if its some idiot id like to see fall ill say something like "you can try to ride it", and its usually instantly returned due to loose trucks/"boards fuckin huge man". and my friends can do whatever they want with my shit
-
As a general rule, no.
I once let a buddy roll on my thin ass daewon song World board back in 1992. He went over to talk to a fat guy and the fat guy tried 2 ollies on it and when it came back to me, it was fucked... soft and flat. Super lame.
I let a puppy bulldog push around with my board back in April. Little dude was stoked! It was his first skateboard experience. I had just set it up and he scratched the shit outta my grip, which would normally bum me out, but it was totally worth it to see the little pooch trying to push around on a board.
-
ill give it to anyone... usually they take 2 pushes and get wheel bite. i once let a used to be pro skater ride it down the street to cash a check, and he came back an hour later looking worn out and asked me how in the fuck i rode it.
-
I go through phases, sometimes I would give my board to anybody who asks, and some other times I won't.
not everybody wants to skate 8.25 and up, so usually I get the "I used to skate" crowd
-
if i'm set up with paradox, i for sure let any lady try it out if she wants.
I think it's the texture or the feel or something... but paradox really attracts the females.

yea ill let soemone ride my board for a bit what kidns of fairies are some of you guys not letting a homie do a few tricks on your skateboard cuase it might 'fuck wit the busihgins' or 'scrape up my tail' ohj dont disturb the delicate genius their beoards need to be just right to do their tricks!
-
Sure just don't surf the tail, bro
Yesterday I walked by mccarren park with some friends and thought about asking if I could use someone's board but I dunno I'm not a little kid and figured it would be kooky
-
the other day i let a mentally challenged kid ride it. he kept following me around the park until i let him. i was kinda scared he was gonna hurt himself but he just rolled on his stomach.
-
I've let a few people ride my board. I'm always hesitant to let someone I just met ride it. But if you aren't a complete kook you can take a run around the pool.
-
So far the only people i let ride my board are friends (if i know they wont snap it) or people wanting to use it to film coz they dont have a board or something
-
nope, it always makes me cringe seeing someone else ride my boards
