Who bought a PS4? I sure didn't because the first run of consoles is always risky business but did anyone out there buy one at launch? What are your impressions?

So apparently the first batch in my city are only available by preorder then the next batch will be available around dec/jan according to gamestop. I checked target and they said the same thing. i play a lot of nba2k14 call of duty and grand theft auto on my ps3. Would i be able to play online against people who own a ps4?

My brother that lives with me bought the bundle that comes with a second controller and a game and I have access to it at any time. The game he got was NBA2K14 which personally I don't give a flying fuck about. We got it from Gamestop because we get the manager's discount. I'll either buy The Order: 1886 when it comes out or pick up Assassin's Creed next week.

While I don't particularly doubt it for the PS4's case, they always say this for everything. I found a few Wii-U's at Target a couple weeks after release, and the day the PSP was released and Gamestop gave me that spiel I went to Wal-Mart and found like 30 of them.

I picked one up at gamestop last night, there were at least 100 people there, however, the target across the shopping center had like 5 people at their midnight launch. A few homies just walked in and bought them all day today, no pre orders.

I picked one up at target and I was the only one there and managed to setup an account but PSN has been down so I can't access the PSN store. Maybe tomorrow it'll be up and working.

Since I ordered all my shit thru Amazon the hooked me up with a code for another free game which I used on Need for Speed Rivals, so I basically have all the PS4 games I'd actually want at the moment. Shit is pretty dope. Graphics are dope and the games I'm playing are fun so I really have no complaints. I might still get back on my PS3 from time to time just to play some more GTA Online (level 45 nigga i came up fast!) but yeah I'm pretty damn satisfied so far. No hardware problems at all for me

Nigga please. Ps4 uses a faster type of RAM and it's OS takes up much less of it. If we're talking pure hardware specs, ps4 easily takes it. Plus Sony has always had better exclusive games BY FAR. In my eyes the only thing Xbox one has over the ps4 is the ability to stream your cable box thru the console, which couldn't be any more of an irrelevant feature to me personally. The kinect may be slightly more powerful than the playstation camera but again, that's something I could really care less about. Plus I ain't forgetting about how bad they stumbled out of the gate with the reveal either, that shit was tragic

But if you truly enjoy gaming a PS4 all day. It will just have a better ecosystem in general. Since both consoles are on essentially the same architecture chip wise I think well find graphic between the two wont be too different. But if youre in the need of a new media center that also can play some pretty good games Go xbox, that simple. Personally since I dont play video games too often itll probably come down to the amount of cash I have that time.

ewwww fanboy bias about consoles is not a good look.To me it seriously won't matter. Both consoles play games, they both have a ton of features I will never use and beyond a few exclusives most games will be released multi platform. When all is said and done and the new generation is about to bite the dust there won't be much difference between the two just like now with ps3 and 360.

Sony showed the controller, games, & hardware specs in a 2 hour event that was critically acclaimed by the media & press, which is hardly stumbling. They saved the console design for e3 which was a smart move. All Microsoft did after the public backlash was copy sony, including a lot of their policies with indie developers after they starting flocking to sony. I've been a gamer all my life & have owned the OG xbox, 360, ps2 & ps3 so I'm far from a fanboy, I just play what I feel is best at the time. At the end of the day sonys exclusives are more than enough to keep me coming back & while the overall visuals of the graphics will be more or less the same, that slower ram on the xbox is gonna be noticeable in terms of their performance (frame rates, texture pop-in, etc), especially a few years from now when developers really start pushing it he hardware. If I was WAS looking for some sort of all in one media center, I'd go with the xb1 but I already got so many different devices that do those things so it's really hard to sell me on another one. I don't give a fuck what anyone else plays tho, as long as you're having fun playing it that's all that matters

There's a solid but somewhat small selection of games out at the moment just because its a brand new console, but you best believe there's gonna be some crazy good games coming out down the line. If not now I'd get one early next year or something because once the industry fully transitions from current gen to next-gen consoles developers are gonna be cranking out some amazing games and there will be much more selection to choose from.

Its kinda iffy to buy systems on their release date . While PS has a better trackrecord then Xbox in new system relaeases not exploding in your face . Its still abit of a gamble
And the price is always abit too high .
Better to wait afew months or a year and then the system is working better , price is lower and there are more games

pretty much exactly what I'm doing. I was on for the xbox one until all of the shady rumors started going around.
I never like to buy consoles on launch --- I'd rather wait for a slight price drop, more games to choose from, and an overall less (potentially) defective system

Yeah PC gamers love to boast on the internet. It is because they are jealous that PC gaming doesn't get as much shine as consoles. It is all personal preference though TBH. They both have their merits.

I will say that games like skyrim & fallout are literally 10x better on PC than on console, but other than that I really don't fuck with PC gaming. I just prefer the console experience overall. Still, I've logged hundreds of hours on those 2 games alone so the PC has my respect. Should be interesting to see what steam does with their new console-like PC box

Since we're already few posts down off topic might as well join in.
Initially got a new console as a gift when Fallout 3 came out. Hadn't had one since the 8-bit Famicom days. I admit not really buying games for Ps3 that are strictly point and shoot because I can't aim for shit with a controller. Not a big loss since I usually steer towards games with a 3rd person view.
A game like Fallout 3 is enjoyable on a console but I admit that it's as much of a PC game as it's predecessors. Playing games on a console doesn't leave much room for those homemade tweaks and mods that I got used to playing on a PC all these years. Guess I get to clean my conscience by not playing pirated games. A big enough hassle to bother with, I guess.
Not getting a ps4 anytime soon knowing that I have a lot of unfinished games I want to play for the earlier generation consoles and there's still more to come.

I will say that games like skyrim & fallout are literally 10x better on PC than on console, but other than that I really don't fuck with PC gaming. I just prefer the console experience overall. Still, I've logged hundreds of hours on those 2 games alone so the PC has my respect. Should be interesting to see what steam does with their new console-like PC box

The only console I've ever owned in an N64 that I bought a few months ago, but I'm seriously considering getting a PS4. Normally I'm a card carrying member of the PC master race, but it might be nice to switch it up a bit, and have something that my friends and I can play simultaneously. The only thing I'm concerned about is: will they be porting PS3 titles to the PS4? Because to be honest the games I want to play the most are The Last Of Us and Skate 3. Basically I'm wondering if a PS4 would be a good investment at some point, or if I should just go cheaper and get a PS3.

basically, yeah. Valve/steam is trying to move out of the bedroom/office and into the living room. I'd be interested in checking one out once they've worked out the kinks and fully launch them.

It's funny how some of you guys can't even get a hold of a PS4 while my PS4 is gathering dust because there are no games out that I want to play. I got mine the day it was released and in the middle of the day. I was in and out of the store in 3 minutes. Where do you live that you can't get one?
The only games I want for PS4 so far are The Order:1886 and it's release date hasn't even been announced yet, and Infamous Second Son which doesn't come out until goddamn March. I'm also waiting for The Witcher 3 which is going to be on every platform. Right now I'm actually kind of jealous of Xbone because they have Ryse: Son of Rome.

once you get a nice PC you don't really see any reason to buy a console other than to play exclusives.
at this point in time, the only thing I actually wanna play on PS4 is the new Metal Gear. Everything else is either cross platform or not worth spending 400 bucks on to play. Btw I don't exactly pay for all the games I play ;D

So I've been going through my 2k14 "myplayer" where it turned me in to a wigger pointguard. I want to change the background and I haven't even been able to do that.

I was thinking about getting one and then I realized there isn't anything that I want to play on it right now that makes it worth the $400 price tag. I know that'll change eventually but I think I can wait it out.

I've heard a number of people saying this(including my neighbor) but mine plays without any problems. A few lag spikes when playing 64 player conquest but that's it. So far BF4 has been the most enjoyable game for me. I hope they get it fixed for everyone having bugs because when it's working it's a lot of fun.

I'm in the same boat. 2014 release dates will probably mean some sort of bundle too which will be nice.
Also to those talking about the ram and performance between the 2 im about to drop some knowledge. The faster Gddr3 ram in ps4 everyone keeps talking about is nothing new, in fact the xbox 360 had the same ram albeit at a much lower amount while the ps3 had 256mb less than the 360 of regular ram and still out performed the xbox visually due to the cell processor but it did take years to utilize fully. with both systems now having the same architecture processor wise youll see there will be little to no difference in these games, the reason the xbox doesnt have said ram is the 3 os's running on it when only one (the gaming os) can fully utilize it. Current early reviews have found negligible differences in cross platform titles some look better on xbox and some ps4 but whatever reason you choose to buy a console now it wont be graphics anymore.

ive had one since midnight launch and i love it. better controller, graphics look sexy (compared to last gen, and they are only going to improve) and i love the way it looks beside my ps3 which is now a tv/movie machine. that being said, its loud, has almost no personalization as far as the operating system/xmb, puts off a ton of heat and DOESNT SUPPORT EXTERNAL HARD DRIVES. to everyone who didnt know this (like myself) THE NEW XBOX AND PS SYSTEMS DO NOT SUPPORT EXTERNAL DRIVES AND YOU CANNOT LISTEN TO MUSIC OR WATCH DOWNLOADED SHIT ON THEM. apparently its like that to curb movie pirating so if you are a piratebay beast like me, hold on to your ps3 a bit longer. they did this when ps3 first was released, you could not upload and listen to your own mp3s and a few months later they put out an update to fix that and all was good, so im hoping they will fix this too.
also, no gta or skate games. that bums me out bigtime. get your ps4, get your cod, get your assassins creed, and get the extended 3 year warranty in case it bursts into flames and come play with me. my friends spent all their money on alcohol and skateboards so im lonely on the warfield.
ps. you xbox fan boys can fuck off, everything about this gen is better than your xbox one, the wii u is better than your xbox one based on exclusives alone, enjoy your 720p 5 years down the road while the rest of us are hanging out in the future with our sexy definition and one day ill be cool enough to own a super pc. guile out.

^ ps4 doesn't support external hard drives but it does allow for upgrading the built in one up to 2 TB. I was kind bummed how you can't upload music on there tho. I always loved listening to my own music whenever I played racing games or wanted custom entrance music for create-a-players in wrestling games.

Have any of you guys played warframe yet? It's pretty sick it's like a space ninja 3rd-person shooter version of borderlands with gameplay similar to that of mass effect 3s co-op missions. It was actually an indie-developed free to play game for PC but Sony hooked it up & got them to port it to ps4, even tho it's free to play, you can still unlock all the best items in the game through collecting & crafting, so you really don't even have to pay a dime for it. Graphics are nice, co-op play is fun online, and all the ninja shit like running across walls, melee attacks, etc. makes it really fun to play. If you're looking for some more action games to play on your ps4, I'd highly recommend it.

I'm gonna pick up a PS4 forsure. I like to wait at least a couple months until they work out all the bugs though.

I traded in 2k14, that game was ruining my life, getting me all frustrated. The guy at gamestop said there isn't shit coming out until February, and a BUNCH of good titles got pushed back to fall.

The only reason I haven't bought a PS4 is for the simple fact of not being able to plug my hard drive in and watch skate vids/movies.
Until they fix that I'm sticking with my PS3.

i played like 5 straight games of 2k and i was getting smoked. Then i hate when you play against someone who has little knowledge of basketball and they run and shoot threes the whole game. I was close to breaking this game...
