Tricks you want to re-do but dread going back for...
« on: October 20, 2020, 10:57:26 PM »
Just thinking about past heartbreaks and wondered if anyone else thinks about the ones you still wanna land but dread putting in the work for.

Partners or skateboard tricks, whichever you wanna talk about.

I know at this point it's never gonna happen but I wish I could have rolled away from a tailslide on the Marquette hubba in Milwaukee. I put a few down but either hit the wall, or fell off trying to avoid it.

Avoiding walls and grass for a clean roll away can lead one to insanity. I feel your pain.

There is this ledge in Vista, CA that Figgy skated in Baker 4 (Front nose to backside 180 nosegrind, I think?) and I was getting close on switch b/s boardsliding across and down the entire thing but got stuck on one, got pitched, and fucked up my wrist for a few months. I’m getting old and never intend on going back. Fully content on skating flat for the rest of my days.

50-75% of the pop shuvit's I've done over things. Idk why but outside of flat ground that trick sketches me the fuck out.

Too many to count at this point, I'm getting old and filming a trick will take me out for a week if I actually have to battle for it.

I'm probably not gonna re-do it, but I full-cab'd into this huge highway ditch/hill bomb thing and I wish I didn't come at it as much of an angle as I did. Still did it though so w/e.

There's this gap here that I've done a few other tricks down, but this particular time I was trying switch fs 360 and kept either sticking on it at like 320 and splatting or I would hold on to it and kick out just before landing. Haven't gone back since.

Another was a switch varial heel down this six stair sized gap. Stuck it over and over, but couldn't pull it before getting too broke off/too dehydrated to stand. Still very bummed on that one.

I’m on a rail/flatbar mental block right now. It used to be something that I wouldn’t think twice about - now I sketch out on the run up unless I’m going at a snails pace.

i really want to learn to do front 180 to switch back crooks more consistently, but that trick is so fucking scary. Every time i try to do them, at least one of the tries i'll go into front lip and get completely pitched. I've eaten shit so many times doing that trick that i begin to question if its even worth trying

This happens to me with risky/scary spots only. If it’s low risk/impact I will go back and redo that shit until I’m happy with it if I care enough. But recently I’ve gone back to some spots that are scary to me that I was skating like 4 years ago when I was was less of a pussy… and I do not have the balls at all anymore

I have a few but then I realzed nothing will compare to Joslin's tre el toro. I would have rather not stuck it at all if I was going to pitched off the board while rolling away. That would eat me up inside

This thread most likely just got an old man injured. Years ago when the parking garage at the local mall was redone they put in interior walls that had large circles cut out of them...which I ollied through a few times. No drop or anything but you could definitely crack your head if not careful. Now reading this thread I'm thinking "that would be a cool black and white picture" and thinking who would be my cameraman at a now very bustable spot.

I'd love to go film a 5050 down this 7 stair hubba.

The hubba is pretty low, but super chunky. I did it once and I don't think I'll ever be able to do it again. I remember rolling away and being like, "Holy fuck, I'm still on my board. I can't believe I didn't break my leg."

There's a set of 3 gaps that we had back to back. It goes a little like this Ollie over a smaller one push a time or two kickflip the biggest one back 180 up the curb to switch power slide prepare for a medium gap ollie in to a steep hill and hopefully you don't eat shit or break your board.

I've landed the run a few times but it's the biggest gap or the ollie in to a hill I broke my board every fucking time and I would be bummed.  Maybe if I have the bigger board and try it but I doubt it, I'm heavy footed and breaking board's is inevitable for me.

Darkslide this parking garage curb. Landed a few with toe drag and then got kicked out, it took a few sessions on different spots and I really don’t want to destroy my griptape again...

i have tried to backside 180 the Macba 3 on two different occasions. But I always slipped out on the landing, because the landing is slightly sloping.
Now I'm at an age where I shouldn't be trying stuff like this at all anymore. But I actually still feel like I could pull it off and it's the trick I would have loved to have done more than anything else.

There's a ditch spot I almost got a trick on like 7 years ago. Only stopped because my blood sugar dipped and I didn't have anything sugary on me. Every time I've gone back for it the ditch was flooded though. Wish the spot wasn't like an hour and a half away...

Yeah that’s what I did but it took a few sessions so I was riding around with fucked grip for a while. When I landed it I was so glad I got to set up a new one lol

Damn back 180's down big gaps are no joke. Never understood why this trick gets labelled "for beginners". The number of people I saw eating shit trying it over and down shit is in the dozens

There was this bank to wall spot under a bridge that we used to skate like 8 years ago that I got really close to landing a kickflip wallride on but got tired and was messing around trying a wallride to fakie and fell really strangely and hurt my hip real bad. It unfortunately set off a chain of alignment issues that plague me to this day.

I went back a few months after and landed one but my buddy slowed down the footage and my front wheels didn't touch and said it didn't count and I needed to go back and re-film it but never got around to it.

I swear one week I can do these as high as my ollies and the next I land primo every damn time. Back pop shuvs are fine though. Anyway I managed to get a phat pop shuv down a 7 last month and I'll never try that trick on stairs ever again, fucking trick is too wild.
