Jeron is absolutely right about Hyun, of course, but his tricks are still pretty cool.

I havent given a shit about any new team member on girl / chocolate since Mike Mo.

me either. i tried to get into Bannerot and Gass and Niels and Manchild, but meh
Honestly feel the same way about those team riders. I tried hard to get into their skating, but nothing stood out for me at least. They're good, don't get me wrong, just lacking something is all and I can't think of what it is.

Simon is definitely SOTY-level ripper.

Contest kookiness aside, I love watching Manch skate. I will watch any footy of his. Hopefully, he can get past his stupid drunk shenanigans and have a solid career. I was probably insufferable a lot when I was in my twenties. I partied a lot and was probably a jackass to a lot of people. Granted, I never did it on a stage like Tampa or AM getting Paid, but here's hoping he can learn from his mistakes and maybe even acknowledge them.

Skating be crazy for sure ahaha I totally feel you though! They skating a great and style is cool too. But I guess it might not be for me. I thinks it's because I had never heard of them, then all of a sudden they're here, ya know? But yeah! You have valid points there! I think I might be out of touch with the crail camp. They were my favorite for a long time though.

I don't like Manchild and I am not saying this as an apologist for his behavior, but I get the strong impression that some of the classic Craig dudes were that-level kooky drunk in the day, we just never saw it due to the curation or whatever afforded by the pre-social media world.

Going back to the Louie joke post, that is something golden-era Graig would never do. IMO the 2000s flair-era and the obsession with fake-cool inside jokes is where they went wrong and that post was just part of the continuum of that decline.

Remember when they announced this dude and then overshadowed it 4 days later with that April fools joke post about Louie being on?

Doomed from the start.

Still a big Crail fan here, but that joke about Louie being on was awful. All it did was highlight their dwindling prestige. I feel like Eldy was still running their gram at that point. And yeah, it totally overshadowed their announcement of Hakeem.

the joke that louie wasn't in on, nor were any of the team riders

How awkward must it have been for a seemingly really nice guy like Louie to have to see that?

The whole chocolate team is hanging out right now, just posted on their instagram

Tagging Jordan Trayhan and Carlisle Aikins and Eric Herrera. Vincent Alvarex was there and James Capps

No sight of Hakeem.

I think there is a chance Hosea will be on too. They posted him the other day. If Herrera, Aikens and Peters go pro at once that might big a rad thing for chocolate

Herrera, Aikens, and Peters are very, very good. Very.
Neils should have been on Chocolate.
Griffin is dope.
Simon is so good it’s kinda silly.
Tyler is punchable. Good skater, but.

Lots of the Craig dudes sucked. And they keep making these lame jokes about drinking and drugs that should have been pulled for obvious reasons, long ago.

When people talk about Manchild's behavior at Tampa, was he being a drunkass not clearing the course and skating during other's runs? He wasn't like fighting or being a creep was he?

Hosea will definitely be on. I’m thinking Eric and Hosea get announced on the team after eh video drops and Jordan, James and Carl go pro first

Obviously Jordan is pro but he isn’t an announced pro on Chocolate as of yet

Not bummed. Hakeem never stoked me out at all. I'm calling it now the chocolate video whenever it comes is gonna be video of the year. New folks like Jordan Trahan, hosea peters and erik herrera with carl aikens just make it already. Maybe james capps will have a pro part with carl now that Hakeem is of. With all those people and how girl has been editing the past couple videos, I have a hard time imagining how it couldn't be fucking great.

Video of the year is a dubious honor.  Deathwish was everyone’s pick in 2020 and rightfully so, but was it really up against any other team videos?

Crail videos of late remind me of Griffin’s parts: a lot of great mid-part tricks, but no defining Ending tricks that you can hang your hat on and remember.   I like GGs skating, but can’t really be pressed to remember anything specifically. It’s even weirder as this is one of the only brands that hoards their tricks and doesn’t have riders doing solo parts

Hakeem kooked himself at the beginning of covid/floyd. I wish I could remember exactly what he was saying in his stories but all I honestly remember was thinking "This is how you ruin your carrier."

He basically was trashing Reynolds and Baker in general for marketing Twuan using stereotypes in ways that could be seen as offensive. He went after other brands/pros with way too much clout for the point he was trying to make and it was not a good look. Rick and Mike had to have checked on his posts at some point. I feel where he was coming from with his intentions but it was done in such an ugly way it was cringe as fuck.

I guess I like that part about the crailtap guys.

But frankly i have more faith in some of the chocolate guys to produce memorable bangers than Griff and Neils, no disrespect to any of those guys. I love nervous circus but generally agree with you. But Jordan Trahan and Carl Aikens are just incredible skateboarders on their own level

You can like it but still admit it’s a terrible way to build rider/brand recognition especially when their last big release didn’t even use names iirc.

I lived through the era when you wouldn’t see a part from your favorite skater for at least two year long intervals if lucky.  I have no need for that now.   I don’t need Jordan Trahan or Simon or whomever to build/maintain a mystique.   At least Jordan is on NB and we might see a part sooner than the head to toe Crail guys

Jeron’s other comment about vrrsaceplug was pretty tasty too.

I agree with Jeron and I salute him for dropping the buttery nice guy schtick - even though he is a buttery nice guy - to preach thr harsh truth.

I like that he’s ready to show some claws.
[close]

I disagree with Jeron about Hyun, but I'm glad someone on the Nine Club is actually making provocative and opinionated comments.
[close]

Completely agree on both fronts. Almost makes me want to listen again, at least to episodes with Jeron.

I for sure get where you all are coming from that speculating/starting rumors on talk shows is what gets intrigue, but I just find it ironic Jeron talking about a 21 year old kid who puts out more footage than most of crailtap.
