friday i will get the results of my CT scan. hopefully i will atleast get some answer as to why i am still in pain and cant bend my ankle  properly since the surgery 7 months ago..
surgeon said before the scan ill probably need surgery again. just not sure how big of a surgery since they dont know what it is that needs fixing.

im so sick of this. i fucking miss skating so much..
[close]

howd you snap your ankle?
[close]

fucked up on a sweeper, dislocated my foot and broke by fibula in 2 spots.

aparently the syndesmotic screw broke and my foot shuffled out of place again. they say it is within the reasonable limit and shoulnt be a problem tho..
they gonna remove the screws and plate soon, dont know a date yet. but theyre not even sure if that will solve the pain and mobility issues i have now.
on top of that last weekend when i was walking i felt my bones shuffle (like what it felt like when the screw broke 5 months ago) and now it hurts like hell and i cant move my foot at all again.. probably have to see a doctor again for that..

damn that sucks, stay off that hoe fr

how big was the transition?

pretty small. waist height. not worth it.

this is right after it happened

I smacked my ankle a few weeks ago and while it hurt at the time I skated through it. Now suddenly it’s hurting really bad like a sharp pain on my inner ankle bone and around it. Hurts when I walk on it and skating makes it way worse. Anyone have this issue before.
Seems like the initial injury might have inflammed the ligaments in my ankle but I don’t know. Sucks because I can’t skate or hike or anything.

I got the same thing in my leg right now. They will probably tell you to leave it in but get it taken out because you will always feel it. I’ve had mine in for 20 years now so no surgeon will take it out. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Also, try to get the cast off sooner so your Achilles doesn’t tighten up too much. That is the worse part. Also buy some hi tops when you return. Best of luck.

Meant to post this day of but here is my bad ankle(1st pic) vs the good and a new x-ray to go with the bad. Surgery on Monday.

Really rough ten days mentally for me when I wasnt geeking out on Vidya games, especially the three day drive home. Had to teach my wife to drive stick. Which was part of the original plan but there was obviously some added pressure now. She did great, granted I set her up for success by having her start flat on ramps but she never killed it. That has all passed tho. Back to being "productive". As I can be anyways.

doesnt look too bad. what hardware did you get? howd you fracture? did you dislocate?

hmmm on second thought kinda gnar to get broken down there.
Just saw this. Just 2 pins tho. Nothing like Disclosed.

Kind of a freak accident but I have deer ankles. Waist high pole jam. 3rd try. Landed tail first and my back foot rolled in. Broke off that chunk of tibia. Shouldn't of been skating. I was real sore from hiking the past week. On the way home, 2 hours outside of Glacier. 19 hours to go.

Edit- still can't skate

Sounds much like something I had a year ago. Rolled my ankle and while there was a bit of swelling for a day or two, I was pretty much back to normal in a few days, couldn't skate though.

There was this really sharp pain inside the ankle that would show up occasionally and that wouldn't go away for weeks. Turns out there was a fracture in my talus bone (a bone that is indeed "inside" the ankle) so it's probably a good idea to get your ankle checked.

Didn't need surgery or anything though, just no skateboarding for three months.

WTF is a medial gastrocnemius tear (“tennis leg”)???

Seems like I just got this. Calf Fucking hurts.

All I did was kick out a front board behind me on a 14” flat bar. :(
Thanks y’all. It’s been fun.

Ruptured a testicle.

Krooked grind landed behind me, landed one foot on the nose and it shot up like a catapult straight into one of my nuts. Think I might wear a protective cup when I can skate again.

Grateful it's not something that's going to bother me long term but I'm still kind of shaken. Getting older so might just suck it up, buy a stupid vest and start bowl skating.

I had a similar bail 3 months ago where board popped-up and hit me in nuts. Dropped me to ground instantly, but nothing ruptured (thank god), and wasn't even a really hard hit (can't fathom how bad a hard hit there would be).

How do they even treat a rupture down there? Sounds brutal.

Bowl skating isn't even that safe either unless you're doing low risk stalls + depends on the bowl.

Minor hamstring strain, suspected semimembranosus. Jan. 31. While doing a switch kickflip on flat trying to get them back in rotation. Landed awkwardly. I'm like, well shit, that didn't feel right. Tested the waters by sticking a regular kickflip but didn't want to push it any further and I left.

Haven't skated since so I'm entering 4 weeks off board and the withdrawal is fucking with me.

Ankle has some limited mobility and dull pain when extending knee over toe so there might be a contusion there, idk. I tried a couple nollies Feb. 7 and the top of my foot was not handling the land without pain.

Started PT Feb. 18.

Hamstring doesn't bother me with everyday movements and I'm still strength training without issue. Some movements in PT can trigger dull pain. If I sit too long that can sometimes bring a trace of soreness. Feels like it's getting better but at this point I might delay a full return to skating until April. Might start up earlier and just roll around see if I can pop without pain.

I don't get injured often. Worst I've had is a calf strain grade 1 but that was exercising, 11 years ago. And a wrist sprain snowboarding. Skating, worst I've had were ankle rolls left leg. Never broken a bone.

Anyone got any guidance for recovery? I'm not used to being sidelined.

Broke my right clavicle last week. Slipped out on a nosepick and dove right on my shoulder. No displacement on the fracture so looks like I'll get to avoid surgery. 4-6 week recovery.

Wearing this sling sucks. Elbow is locked up, wrist is just flopping around, turning and lifting my neck kills, the rest of my shoulder is all tense and sore, hella bruised up..... getting decent at using my switch hand tho.

Almost off the pain meds from the ER and just wondering if anyone has tips about nursing a broken collarbone. Ice, rest, ibuprofen of course, but I'd like to avoid any more narcotics and don't really want to ask the doc for more.
Wow sorry, didn't realise I was dealing with a sick cunt here

First bone I broke skating, when I was 11-years-old. But mine was a "greenstick fracture" because I was still young. Shit would have snapped in two today. I had a Stage 2 shoulder separation from a b/s indy nosepick on transition a few years back. Nose grinds / picks apparently lend themselves to shoulder-area destruction. Anyway, hope you heal-up quick, and it doesn't hurt too much.

Back foot's ankle started flaring up after skating a few times. This has happened a bit in past years. I have scar tissue, bone spurs and os trigonum syndrome on my left ankle and I've been able to avoid surgery for 3-4yrs now since my doctor suggested it. I really wouldn't want to go that route but some days I can barely put weight on the foot at first. Eventually it becomes better I can jog for an hour. I've thinking of using an ankle brace when I skate, not because of instability but to reduce some motion of my painful ankle to see if it has any effect.

So far during my "Old Age Reunion" tour I have been pretty lucky.

I did step off for a no-comply and my knee when sideways, was out completely for 2 weeks, that was a month and half ago, I am skating again, but it still ain't right

So I rolled my ankle pretty bad. No real breaks but my ankle ballooned up asap and the the first 2 weeks, I had bruising all over my foot and was limping the whole time. Fast forward 5 weeks later, my leg is better but I am just not back to skating form and it is driving me nuts. My doctor gave me a 6-8 week timeline but I swear I won't be back to normal even by then. Just wondering what other people's timelines were when they rolled their ankle in getting back to normal.

So this turned out to be a torn meniscus, pain and swelling have subsided and the Doc says it is still skateable without surgery.

I do have an appt tomorrow to see if I broke my scaphoid

So grade 2 sprain? If you haven't, start restrengthening it. If you have, keep at it. Balance, mobility, proprioception drills too. Should get you back to the form you want. If PT is an option, worth considering.

Don't stress yourself about that 6-8 week timeline, that's just a general rule of thumb for the so-called return to play in athletics. I've had several sprains that took many months to fully heal. For me it's always kickflip variations that take the longest to feel comfortable with again because of the way my flick works. Point being: Skating is finicky, and and so is recovering from injury. And @Llewellyn Moss is right on the money in terms of activities off the board you can to do aid in that process.

literally did the same thing, like a grade 2 sprain last summer and it still isn't the same. I have a buddy who's a PT and he sent me programs for restrengthening and stretches. I did all that shit. its like 85% normal at this point but my inner ankle still gives me pain every day if I do certain movements. I can skate pretty normal as long as I wear blazers with the top laces cranked tight around my ankles. find other stuff to occupy your mind and time dude, you got a ways to go.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I’ve pushed myself to skate a week ago which is just curb stuff but I can literally only do a backside noseslide and that’s it. Bending my front ankle down and up is just hard and psychologically messing with me cause I am just scared to re roll the ankle. I sort of had a rejuvenation with skating in my mid 40’s and just would hate to not have it where I was. I guess I have to just wait and heal.

Rolled mine several times never too serious but that fear remains for me as well. It's the reason I opt for switch nose grinds/slides.

Thanks in advance
