Yeah that part was definitely heavy. Front lip on the hubba, switch flip into the ditch, the pre-Dane Burman 5050 to gap, kickflip to front lip on the channel really stood out to me. The argument still stands though. Is 5:30 worth of footage really comparable to a years worth of similar shredding? I know Figgy didn't hit the transition, but they were still comparable.

Apart from Coles second one... only Silas winning it has put me off.  Didn't he get Bachinsky kicked off Adidas???

The year David Gonzales won put me off. Figgy put in fucking work that year. He had the skate rock tour footage, he destroyed it in the passion trip videos, he had multiple web clips and ads, then he ended the year with his amazing Bake and Destroy part and that gnarly Thrasher cover. He was robbed. Only other person who should have gotten it over Figgy that year was Guy.

Yes I did. It was great, but Figgy fucking killed it that year for the mag and every other SOTY set the bar pretty high with how much coverage you should have. One part shouldn't make you a SOTY in my opinion. You need to destroy it all year.

No he didn't. Nothing Figgy did even comes close to McAteer rail, and that's just to start. Also, David was releasing all sorts of footage through thrasher all year. The argument is old and lame. I get that some people might like Figgy more, but you are straight up a fucking idiot if you don't understand how David got it, like full on stupid.

These past two years have been really narrow decisions. Two years ago, they gave it to the skater with the most shocking, gnarliest, and most death-defying part (David) rather than the gnarly guy putting out constant footage (Figgy). It would've made sense to give SOTY to either of them, but at the end of the day, only one guy can get it. Giving it to David definitely makes sense and is certainly not an unjustified decision.

This past year, they did quite the contrary and gave it to the stylish ripper putting out multiple parts (Ishod) rather than the skaters with the gnarliest single parts (Westgate and Nyjah). Again, either of these three would've made sense (although I'm personally glad Nyjah didn't get it).

For this reason, I can't really see any pattern in their choices. Thrasher has given SOTY to all kinds of skaters.
