russ is so sick. i dont know how many times ive watched his port moody blues or crime in the city part. first pro i ever met too, pretty hyped on that. he didnt seem to mind some dumb kid bugging him at the skatepark. rad dude. even went out of the way to buy one of his city boards but i snapped it almost immediately.

Been a fan of Russ for over a solid ten years now, his Port Moody blues part is def my all time favorite part along with his crime in the city part. I also went out of my way to buy a couple of his Think decks just to support him, I get all giggity for any new coverage of him these days as well.

what a depressing interview/story

long story short dude didnt make it because of you basterd americans and your hatred for anyone who isnt american trying to make it in skateboarding. dude is better than ton of these lames going pro and he just got slept on so long he had to move back to canada, go back to school and get a shitty job just to make ends meet.

skateboarding unless your prod, nyjah or some other nike robots as a profession is pretty fucking pointless. so many ppl going down the drain and they wont even know it until its too late.

Don't see what's depressing about it.  Dude gave it a shot, put out some dope video parts, and bailed and started a real life when things got shitty.  No shame in going to school and getting a job like a real fucking person.  There's like 20 guys on earth right now who are going to be comfortable the rest of their lives as the result of their skate careers.

Do you know how many people from America have had time in the spotlight and just faded out? It happens a ton and it's a bummer, but that's the reality of skating. Even if it's for a short time, getting paid to skate is a dream come true.

I really don't think the industry blacklisted canada. And in this guy's case, it was a sad case of wishy-washy sponsorships that never got him more recognition. You gotta wonder what getting on habitat during the Mosaic era could have done for his career
