bag for skating around
« on: March 28, 2017, 10:12:15 AM »
i'm trying to find a small sling bag for skating around the city. i hate having things in my pockets while skating and am not a fan of emptying my pockets everytime i get to a spot or asking to throw stuff in a friends bag. i basically need something just big enough to hold my phone, wallet, keys, smokes, etc. and i'm conflicted about whether or not any of the bags on amazon are junk or not.

anyone have recommendations?

Sounds like you need a European Carry-all

I found one of these at a thrift store for $10 and it's good quality.

http://www.patagonia.com/product/fly-fishing-atom-sling-pack-15-liters/888336729860.html?CAWELAID=120226140000205821&gclid=Cj0KEQjwk-jGBRCbxoPLld_bp-IBEiQAgJaftYTrx0f4V0JuFmxdLubKOekXiQNj1wu0LKWB0kbU0m8aAisZ8P8HAQ

I wouldn't pay full price for it but maybe check eBay or something and you can find one on Craigslist or something if you live in an outdoors type area like I do.

Edit: also if you've got fat stacks these look sick.

i forget where i read it, but spanly just uses a doubled up plastic grocery bag

I have a bunch of those cinch bags but they suck for carrying anything pointy like a skate tool

all the outdoor brands make little shoulder sacks for this exact kind of purpose, shouldnt be too hard to find

hit a thrift store for a $5 bag. Usually there is always some type of camera/video game bag that you wear like a male purse or just straight up get a fanny pack. I found some weird  bag that holds all my stuff and its cushioned. I wouldnt buy anything new when theres for sure something used out there that'll work for a cheap price.

Damn I left my bubbler at my parents house

I'm gonna get clowned for this but a fanny pack is pretty dope, or if you're cooler / crust punk, a chaos pouch (a bag or pouch that you put on your belt).

If you do it right a fanny pack is pretty practical. I just stopped carrying shit around with me but if i had to take things like wallet , phone and some smaller other shit a good fanny pack slung over a shoulder works well

I just got one of these for my bike handlebars, but they double as a great bum bag/ hip pouch. Hand sewn in Portland, custom colors. Pretty water resistant, a few different pockets and perfect size. I got mine for half price otherwise they are pretty spendy....

I've thought about using a lighter sack/bag opposed to my normal backpack but I find a regular day pack perfect; extra shirt, tool, wax, water bottle (i gotta good reusable one cause FUCK wasting money on bottled water regularly) - a plastic bag is good too but again I have everything ready in my daily backpack I take to work... So for my lifestyle a backpack is common

Doubled up plastic grocery bag is where it's at.  I usually put wax, a skate tool, water canteen, keys, and phone in there.

I got a Gravis fanny pack/sling bag thing about 14 years ago before they got into skate shoes and I still use it. I've got a little luggage lock that I secure it with when I'm skating.

I roll around with a little mini soft sided cooler.
Fit a couple waters in there, maybe a snack, wax, skate tool, keys, weed, pipe, lighter, wallet.
You're all set.
Kind of like this; but it has a strap to carry it:

I don't know if they make them anymore, but I've loved this packable backpack. It's super simple, really light, and it has a small zippered pocket on the inside that flips out so you can stuff the whole bag inside itself. I've had it for a couple of years and use it when I don't want to bring a full on backpack, at least 4 times per week, and it's held up surprisingly well for a $20 bag. Worth it if you can find it, I think.

i back the fannypack if all you have is keys, phone and small stuff.
if you need a pack, then ebay foldable backpack and get one of them $3 free shipping types.
if you carry heavy shit (6 pack +), then you should probably get a more decent pack. thrift stores is a good option.

I'm definitely hopping on the fanny pack wagon soon. Skating with a backpack is always a pain in the groin.
