Recently just switched from thunders because the bushings kept sticking. Broken in, replaced pivot cup. They kept sticking. I think thunder bushings give it that nice snap. I tried Indy conicals on them they were good but oddly enough didn’t turn like the thunders do which when you’re used to it I do like tha lean and snap back to center it’s not too bad. But the constant sticking was driving me nuts. I had a pair of Royal 149s I had on a cruising set up switched em over. This time didn’t mess with the bushings just cranked them down to 1.5-2 threads showing in the back and now I’m back in business.

I’m completely over the light blue V8 bushings. The contrast between summer softness and winter freeze up it far to great. And I have all these dead stock early dlxmx formula purples. Those hardly change in comparison.
I’m getting off my ass after this session and switching over again. I can’t stand looking like I’m going to fall of my bloard when just pushing back from the garage.

Album link. I saw another pals account   Photos too big. Apologies. I know some of yall hate me for it

I've recently been extremely impressed with mini-logo bushings

169 Indy
Bones soft on top with flat washer
Ace Standard on bottom with Ace washer
Nut turned flush with kingpin

No squeaking or clicking. Smooth surfing at the park.

^ive definitely done that combo on aces and lurpivs and it's so good. problem is the soft bones bushings lasted me about two sessions. they're so snappy and amazing for the minute you get to skate them though

Just started running hard Bones top bushings and stock bottom bushings on my Thunder T-II's, no washer on top or bottom at all. Front truck something like 2 threads below flush, back truck more like 1 thread below flush. Enjoying them so far, got a little four stair sesh in and had no problems with them.

I hope this helps, and is correct, I used ChatGPT to make the chart.

Bones Hardcores specs should be added

I think it was something like this from new:

Bones bushings
Total 26 mm
Top 12 mm
Bottom 14 mm

* The "extra height" on Bones bushings is due to them being used without the usual truck bushing washers and they come with only one very thin flat black washer, but they can be put on with the normal truck bushing washers if needed, or when they squash down.

** They can and do squash down so much though, as one set of very well used Bones hard bushings here is about 9 top and 11 bottom and they look like a flat sad pancake compared to the new product.

Original bushing info post here, now with Bones and another one added in as well:

As I said in the Thunder thread:

Ha yeah that is actually pretty good, and maybe a lot easier to read / see than the text info.

Thanks for doing that, even if it was easy to do!!

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

I've had several sets of bones hardcores recently and the heights were all over the place, I sanded some down to even them out

Like I had some where one top bushing was the same height as Indy and one was more like an ace

That's when I realized the bottom and top bones bushings are the exact same thing, the tops are just cut right where the conical part meets the cylindrical part. I've definitely gotten some where the top almost looks like a bottom, the cutting doesn't seem to always be precise

I think there are a lot of KO Bones products out there. Not sure about wheels but I know I heard about Bearings and I'm pretty sure bushings too. Maybe that explains some of the varinces in size and quality? Powell seems like a company that would have better qc and consistency than others but I may be wrong.

Definitely a lot of bearings around 2020 and 2021, but I don't recall seeing any other Bones products on the counterfeit market - that is not to say it hasn't happened though.

I think that pretty much tanked when everything came back online around 2021 / 2022 but I guess there could still be a market for fake gear in Asia and some other places.

All the sets I have were from the authorised distribution, way too many to count as a couple of people go through Bones bushings like no tomorrow, so I have way too many sets, the hard versions in particular, so that would make sense if the consistency was not quite there with the heights.  Also why one guy who rides them always seems to have a bit more trouble with them being exactly the same, but I have never really measured many from new, only the used ones, some very well used and squashed so much that putting them in any normal truck makes them feel like medium to soft for how much they give with the kingpin nut flush.

I do recall I have had a few sets I had to double check they weren't all just tops too, whereas some others are very clearly a bottom or top bushing.

I think more than anything some bushings from various brands that come in the conical shape really are much the same, just the bottom with a slight barrel and conical part, the tops just conical as usual.  I have cut some bottoms down to make more tops as well, because some people seemed to always blow out the top bushings within the first week on some sets.

* I went looking for something else and came across this post, re cutting down Bones bushings.  Thought you might like to see it if you hadn't already:
