New Years resolutions…
« on: January 06, 2023, 08:22:11 AM »
What’s one thing your done with, or going to start backing this year?

I’m done with floppy ass Vulcs, ruining my feet.  Not sure I’ll can make the change to a full beefy cup sole, but im done with raw dogging it in cardboard soles just cause it “feels good” on the board.  Trying to think of the consequences of my impulsive desire for short term gratification more.

Also, im gonna stop worrying so much about what people get paid in the industry, even if they’re lazy good for nothings who profit of the blood sweat and tears of a revolving door of sacrificial lambs.  It is what it is.

Similarly to OP, i'll finaly retire my Busenitz vulcs that i've been skating with insoles removed and I'll buy a pair of Maranas.

The other thing I'm gonna do is these back stretches to remedy my newly acquired sciatica. Hopefully I'll be back skating flat and ledges in a month or two 🤞

Find something to replace my usual Vans slip-ons because I hate the redesign. I like the emerica slip-ons but fuck emerica. Bought some Nikes we’ll see how they are.

Considering the last 3 years of injury plagued lack of skating...

-changed my diet - all fruits, veggies, grilled chicken, water and orange juice - no soda or beer ever and no candy
-stretching/ exercising/ working out
-even though i love smoking, I think I am going to quit to be more healthy. seems pretty obvious really

The last 3 years, my bad knee ruins pretty much every session I have. All grinds feel like they are grinding inside of my knee. And not to mention my bad ankle (same leg!). So I'm doing all of this in hopes that i will at least be a smidge of my old self for a last gasp of decent skating.

I'm just gonna skate more often and practice better. I get caught up on tricks I can't land and put all my energy into those instead of working on something else. That and push out of my comfort zone. I've lost so many tricks or strayed away from skating certain obstacles because of injuries or bad experiences and I've regressed a lot in the past couple of years. So more practice and pushing back on my comfort zone so I can skate more stuff than I have. Semi-skate related, I'm trying to be more actively engaged with things I do. Cutting back on screen time, talking with people, playing my instruments, skating more, making better use of my time this year.

-get 360 flips consistent again
-work on switch flips/switch heels more, even if I don’t land them, I need to work on them more
-kickflip out of a boardslide
-eat less sugar
-stop smoking blunts (going well so far)
-spend more time with family
-exercise more (outside of skating)
-release a ‘video part’
-find a place to play drums again
