Toss Mid90s, Street Dreams, North Hollywood, Thrashin’, Gleaming the Cube, Lords of Dogtown into the rubbish heap.
It is our turn to write a semi-relatable, semi-watchable, somewhat pleasing movie centered around skateboarding. However, it can’t be a rehash of KIDS or tangentially related to skating like Police Academy 4.
One Slap Pal on the North Hollywood thread suggested:
“Imagine if the main character was a mix of Jim Greco’s temperament, with Jamie Thomas’ demand of others, with Kareem Campbell’s inability to pay people on time or show up to things...you would have the greatest skate movie ever.”
Okay, skateboarding has so many wild characters and stories where the truth is stranger than fiction that a dramatic film should be achievable that is not corny as fuck, not a zero to hero to zero arc, nor how brave it is to skate in pick your choice of any of the shittiest places on the planet rebellion song.
