A brand doesn't have to be homies that skate together to be great. Lots of brands at their pinnacle aren't a bunch of buds chillin. One thing they all have in common is that they crank out a bunch of interesting footage for their respective niches. Most of them aren't the expert at their given niche, but unique and amazing to watch. Bobby isn't the most tech ledge skater ever, but he's got great style, great trick selection, and produces great footage. You can't really dislike any of them. People try to with Sebo, but he rips everything from Burnside to DIYs and skates anything all the time at a high level.

He had a small part earlier this year but nobody can remember what it was in.

Can’t wait for some krooked edits with him, everyone on the team are creative style lords, plus nyc plus gonz, seems like a fit to me

Lets be real, Polar was cool few years back but their graphics feel really stagnant at this point

Great fit. Has he ever said anything about not getting on Limo or 917? That seems like the obvious fit

was never on 917 or tried to be on, limosine i thought was up his alley but i guess not? idk didn’t like the polar graphics, not on limo, but on krooked? seems as if he’s sucking it up and eating his own words at this point.

this is coming from a big A. Wilson fan

He was one of the first guys on 917 along with Jed Anderson, Hayden Burns, Stu Kirst & Genesis Evans. He quit for Alltimers.
he said he never skated for them. 51:54

It’s not really fair to compare, but Krooked has never felt like all the people skate together….which is sort of an understated important part of skateboard teams…..gonz seems more connected to adidas and it’s team than krooked.  Antihero has always seemed like it had a core group of skaters in the Bay Area and they skated together… Real it’s understood….regional rippers and heavy hitters…..Krooked has a good selection of skaters, but it feels pieced together and you don’t get the vibe that it’s ever been different.

I wonder

have you watched Krooked Kronichles and felt the same way?

When did that vid come out?

I understand how it’s tough for a brand to change and evolve….if anything, I’d be psyched to see a few more graphics that weren’t Gonz’s…sounds totally backwards, but I think it would work, like what Ed does with Toy Machine, and more vids….

I think that was in reference to the exodus that occurred with Cyrus & co. He says otherwise in his Heckride interview

Those are some pretty crazy stories! I remember you telling me around this time that you were actually a part of the early stages of the 917 team too, right?

Yeah, I guess it would have been the baby stages of it before it became an actual company. It was me, Genesis, Stu [Kirst], and Jed Anderson. But yeah, it was around the time I moved to Puerto Rico, I was still skating 917 boards then but I was also much closer to Rob Harris than I was with Alex at the time, so I ended up eventually making the move to Alltimers instead. 917 was just getting boards and hanging with Alex mostly which was great, I should have stayed.

In those early stages, did you have any foresight that 917 would eventually blow up to become what it was in its heyday?

No, not really because I thought some of my friends were going to go to Alltimers with me. They ended up going to 917 after I had already quit so I was in this weird position (laughs). But it’s all good, everything happens for a reason. I stayed on Alltimers for about a year or two, and it was great. I loved traveling with Rob, Ben, Dustin, Chuck and Pryce. It was awesome man, super good times. Rob Harris is the man! His video “Rich Mahogany” is a big reason why me and Johnny wanted to move to NYC, that was a big video for us.

just because you know what to expect from the brand doesn’t mean the brand is mediocre or stale by any means
[close]

i should have worded that better. i didn't mean actual mediocrity, but relative to how innovative they once were. sort of like they are in their comfort zone now. if anyone still finds nuance in these graphics and gets psyched on them, i'm the last one to bad mouth that. i'm probably just oversaturated myself with the typical 2010s style graphics. doesn't mean i want those brands to go out of business or something like that. also a company can reinvent itself only so many times until it seems inauthentic or corny.

it's probably better in the long run to have a consistent and coherent aesthetic until you can rely on selling that one classic deck and just go wild with your pro decks. like anti hero, they sell enough eagle decks i guess. so for a brand it's smart to strive to become something like anti hero or real where the graphics don't really matter anymore as long as they fit the aesthetic and vibe. in that sense, polar, f.a. and palace are pretty much on track to have a long lasting staying power well after the initial decade of their business.

valid, thanks for clarifying

anyone think krooked might announce tom knox on this trip? i've heard he's on primitive (and april) but he has been skating nothing but Krooked boards...
Knox on Primitive or April would be awful.
Andrew Wilson on Krooked would be fine. I heard from someone who skates for Hockey that he was supposed to be announced on there and I guess that just never happened? That makes the most sense to me if not Limosine but oh well.

Polar is one of my favorites but I'm going to have to agree with this. have trouble finding any of their graphics that interest me lately.

This didn’t use to be the case. That run with Krooked Kronichles, Gnar Gnar, Gnaughty, and 522 on the 411 was a very small cohesive team. It was just barely there after Van passed with LSD but they are going more and more into Real vagueness with each year. Still great riders but not what it once was.
I thought it wasnt just him solo, shouldve stuck with my og thought.

After van passed they did the krook3d/2d video which seemed like a pretty tight knit team too.

I wanna say 06 or so. I guess when I was young the Summer Comes Early DVD made Krooked and all of Deluxe really seem like all the dudes were tight.

Lol. Eldee is definitely a human. He’s like a raider on horse back who’s kinda scared to do battle. Somehow he closes his eyes and swings his sword wildly and wakes up in a pile of dead orcs.

Would rather see Brendan Carroll get the bump to am. Dudes been flow for a while it seems, but I guess Gonz gotta go with the cool guy sponsor hopper instead
