How are the current Madrid made decks?
« on: February 09, 2025, 03:25:13 PM »

I saw a deck today that checks a lot of boxes for me. Size, shape, wheelbase, wheel wells etc...It's an SMA! I had no idea they were back! Looks like they're made by Madrid. Anyone have any recent experience with a Madrid made deck? If it matters, I typically ride BBS decks but am not crazy picky as long as the quality is good.

.

I haven't seen any recently, but the Woodshop thread has some info and people talk about them there, as well as some pics, instagram posts and other info.

Search MADRID in the Woodshop thread for an easy look at things people had said or posted.

I had a Heshlord shaped deck about 3-4 years ago. The wood was solid but thick, like 1980’s thick. The concave was deep but they have a ton of molds so who knows about the SMA stuff. Really stiff board. A weird side note (that doesn’t really matter) is the deck rails / edges were really rounded off top and bottom.

Thanks! This is really good to know. I had checked the woodshop thread but there was nothing about what the boards were actually like. The one I'm looking at is the Harada Dragon. If it's really that thick, maybe I'll skip it.

I had seen a few other boards that say they come from Madrid, with the wood being a little thicker / heavier, but I can't be 100% sure, but as per a few other boards that look like that, they usually held up really well.

The good thing with having info in the Woodshop thread, is also asking questions in the thread usually means more woodshop related stuff is available there, which makes it all easier to find as well, hence saying to ask in there, but not a worry either way.

Hopefully you find the size, shape and other info you are looking for in a decent board from somewhere any which way.

:)

I haven't skated one but I have some of their "David Bowie" -decks and they're thick with deep concave too.
