Fantasy skate company
« on: October 11, 2011, 05:44:27 AM »
Ok, so imagine you had unlimited time and money to start your own skate company...

What would it be called?

What creative direction woull it have - videos, graphics, ads, etc?

And who, past/present/future would you put on your team?

Unstopperable.

Pros pay us to un-skatestop or make a spot that is semi-skateable into a completely skateable spot overnight.

We also hire out flash mobs to distract security while a pro goes to work on landing a trick at a spot in another part of the business area.

Popsicle Stick, Inc.

Every deck is the same exact shape, and the widths only vary by 1/2".

Oh, wait... I just described practically every skate company in existence.

hey i tried this! sorta.. not the unlimited money part.. or anyone i want part

i would have Natas as the creative / art director

ricky oyalo and kalis.. street style for days

then austyn gillette and the busenitz

and we'd have our own wood shop.

then we'd have have a small cafe that had skate stuff too. just so people could chill if they wanted. no clothes or shoes n  shit. just skateboard stuff. and good coffee.

YOURMOM, inc.
"We've got the best wood, so you can ride YOURMOM HARD."
"Also try our hardware: YOURMOM's nuts (and bolts)"

Tons of ads (in the essence of Enjoi), with no point, and a hard comedic edge that makes even the most core dudes giggle.
Videos will only be filmed after dark, using nightvision

TEAM: All are welcome.

I'd like to do one called Big Tings A'Gwan

With all the graphics being of 'Big Tings' like that giant Donut in Los Angeles, Jupiter and morbidly obese people

And only sponsor really fat skaters

A smart and tasteful Canadian brand that would not fall into the jocked out redundancy of RDS.

Larry Balma Sk8 Scuad

The most Larry boards in the industry. (Elite pop board strength technologies and only the most potent of laminates. Full names on decc and nothing else)
The most Balma dudes of the industry. (Geoffrey Van Hove, Guy Kampfen, and Sven "Gruyere" Kilchenmann huck jamming the arena circuit throughout western europe)

regular shapes and sizes for the most regular of dudes.

thou art.

^I like them.  Not sure if they intend to make the company get bigger or not though.

I don't think I could run a successful skate company. I'd micromanage the clothing or tricks of my skaters so much they would just go elsewhere.

Good Copy Skateboards - Rules of art direction are strictly no graphic design elements or logo boards. Colourfully vibrant and interesting graphics. Guest models in every new line.

Small team.

Wes Kremer
Gilbert Crockett
Jake Donelly
Elijah Berle

Ams - Ben Fisher, Stevie Perez + Justin Modica, turn one pro the next year.

I would blatantly rip this jay howell illustration for a graphic:
