Krooked price point board delamed
« on: September 11, 2012, 01:17:05 PM »
Does anyone know if I could get them to refund or replace it? It was one of those $40 dollar ones and this happened after less than a month; never got wet or jumped down anything big. I really liked the board up until this point, felt perfectly fine until i heard a cracking sound whilst popping looked down to find this.

working at a shop, this looks like a possible refund for me. make sure you don't skate it anymore, though. i'm pretty positive the dudes at dlx will send you a new one.

nah dude, the shop does not eat the cost. we replace decks like that all the time, whenever we have a few we return a box to  the distributor and get new ones.

I love DLX boards, but those pricepoint decks are pretty bad. Never had one myself, but I've known quite a few people who've had em and just about all of them ended up snapping them in less than a week of skating.

I'm guessing the term "pricepoint" has something to do with it. I had one, it lasted about 3 weeks. It delaminated but I didn't think much of it since it's a pricepoint deck.

Yeah, but still, I'd expect a pricepoint deck to still be somewhat decent, even if it were pricepoint. Snapping in less than a week is pretty ridiculous.

having gone from a price point krooked to a decent anti hero.. they're not even close. never had a problem with it snapping, but the krooked chipped up a lot quicker and just didn't feel as good in general. didn't have as much pop, wasn't as comfortable a shape, you name it. i really didn't expect there to be a huge quality difference, but there is.

Have to agree...I decided to switch it up from my last 6 anti hero's and try this welcome deck and i'm feeling the same way:

It's not a true  8.5 - and I read after the fact how they claim "it skates like an 8.25". It's a fun shape to dork around with, but the wood is incredible cheap and has already chipped on the nose after it got away from me and ran into a wall (this never happened on an anti hero). Someone recently told me how DLX uses "bareback" wood (whatever that means) but it does make such a difference. Shame on me for not going with the tried and true - but distance makes the heart grow fond if you will...looking forward to another 8.38 Anti Hero.

^I actually have a Welcome board and I have been quite happy with it. To tell the truth, I mostly just use it as a cruiser but session it a bit here and there and it has been holding up well.

i'm starting to wonder if krooked had a bad batch of boards. My brother only buys krookeds and he broke 3 boards in a month and not even doing anything big either.

I bet it's great for that, HS - but it's doesn't tank as well as what I'm used to.

I got inspired to get one after seeing their awesome HAKAS video:

I'd like to hear from Shufflessss - because he more or less had the same exact set up I'm rocking now and I wonder how he found it (we seem to have similar taste in what we like to ride). But i noticed he recently went to a REAL 8.38 in the set up thread pretty quickly. but then again - he works at a shop he said, so why not re-up your gear as quick as you want.

They emailed my today and said they would replace it if I shipped it back to them. They have definitely earned my continued patronage.

I respect dlx not only for quality product but for their willingness to give you shit for "defects". my thunders axel snapped but well after a year of skating them so i was grinding on the axel for about a month expecting them to break, and they said if I send them in they will give me new ones cause its "probably a defect". I'm tempted but i dont want to be a greedy fuck cause trucks cant last forever i feel i got my moneys worth.
