Because they don't pay their riders, they sell mostly to non-skateboarders, and nicky diamond thinks he's a rapper

I said it in another thread, but someone from Diamond told me that Zumiez owns a huge chunk of the company. It would make a lot of sense (Zumiez is like half diamond shit), also there's lots of much bigger clothing companies where you don't see the owners blowing money on crazy cars and private jets (Richard Woolcott who started Volcom comes to mind, which is a much much larger company). Diamond is a private company so they wouldn't have to tell anyone if Zumiez was an investor. Shops keep ordering that shit and by doing so are helping Zumiez pay their rent.

Funny enough the Tiffany dunk was Spencer Fujimotos idea, but Nick ran with it. When Diamond was tanking Zumiez basically offered them an apparel manufacturing deal of sorts where Diamond submitted graphics and Zumiez printed, sold and paid a royalty. Graphics obviously being a very loose term, they didn't really have a design guy through most of it, hence the very thrown together, duuhhh, sort of look. Another piece pushing Diamond over the top, money wise, is that they make 3x shirts. Believe it or not, theres big money in big people. But for the most part, yes, Zumiez kept Diamond around, and you can thank them for that.

No wonder Diamond has always reeked of shit. Never considered it a skate company.

Diamonds been around for nearly 20 years as a good hardware company. Within the last 5 or 6 it got weird. Is that how long you've been skating?

Nope, actually I've been skating 20 years myself. They have always been on that corny baller bullshit. The only diamond stuff I've bought were some of their abec 7 bearings. They had all the lovely packaging and looked pretty,  cost 4000 yen but they were awful. This must be 10 years or so back. They use skateboarding to give their brand legitimacy.

Damn, I should have bought one then. I remember every time I went to my local shop I saw that shirt and thought it was dope but they only ever had a size Small or XXXL.
I don't think Diamond actually makes normal sized shirts.
