What happened to Angel Ramirez (or the rest of foundation)?
« on: January 14, 2016, 01:27:18 PM »
I've heard a couple rumors but nothing made sense. What about the rest of Foundation that disappeared?

I'll check that out! Thanks. I just remember thinking that the That's Life and the Cataclysmic Abyss era team was so cool, now Duffel is all that's left.

Cataclysmic Abyss was a good ol' fun video.

"Where are the ciiiiigs?!??

Oh here they are"
I'm going to argue that Placebo owes their entire career to a Canadian dude's skate video part. Appleyard should be getting royalties for this shit.

Not to mention all that bonus footage! The whole team skating in Europe and Ethan Fowler killin' it. That was such a good video, it was the first time I related to pro skaters and got hyped. I wore out the DVD haha

That's Life had a shit ton of bonus footage too from what I remember, that being the first skate DVD I rinsed completely. The box eventually broke so I re-purposed an old PS2 game box for it, with the memory card slot and everything. ha

Foundation has a constantly changing team, likely due to long-term bad management.
The good guys they pick up never want to stay very long and jump to different teams.
They often pick up mediocre guys that don't have a very large following, and eventually drop them.
But pretty much nobody stays on.
Swank or Sinclair or whoever is in charge over there seems like a real prick.

From everything I hear, Angel is a drunk/burnout now.
Are you a kook? If you would say this, the answer is “YES”
I quit skating for a time due to piling out

Ha, that Ethan Fowler slam still hurts to watch. And not to be TOO nerdy, but I THINK he says "That was my body". If I'm right I'll take all the gnars thank you.

I also remember in the intro there was someone trying to ollie that HUGE planter set of like 9 blocks that Greco ollied in the Deathwish video (that was also kickflipped recently) and they had edited it in so it looked like they were faintly on fire.
Man I want to watch that video again.
In full (yes even Stehr's part).

I think it was Abdias, and I thought he was trying kickflip? Either way, that video is a modern classic, I had Nuge's part on repeat for a loooong time.
Edit: Someone shoulda used Nuge's song for a #switchgod edit.

Shit I think you're right (on both counts). Either way, I now feel the need for a rewatch. I think we all should give it a re-watch, it could be like a book-club, where we all report back after watching and share feelings / thoughts/ stand out moments that occur from re-watching an older video. As I was typing that sentence I got progressively more excited at the idea of rewatching classic vids in full the discussing.

Shit, is that the set Shane O'Neil switchflipped recently @ 1:06?

Also, from re-watching that part I came to the conclusion re: Stehr's skating.
Either:

He would not have a hope in hell of being pro if he was coming up in 2014-15

or

If he kept some of his trick selection and expanded upon it in his video out-put he would do very well and have a good following.
Imagine, a part full of boneless' , odd hippy jumps / caveman type things , odd grinds and then out of nowhere olliieing a mountain of stairs or bs 50-50ing the sports convention centre (that's what that place is, right?). That trick is still absoloutley mad. He's hauling ass too.
I'm going to argue that Placebo owes their entire career to a Canadian dude's skate video part. Appleyard should be getting royalties for this shit.

not the set Shane switch-flipped recently he did a double set with very long single stair after the end. Only other thing I've seen is Boserio of all people ollie it in the Nike SB 2up vid, which speaks to how fucked up that trick was.

I see angel at the denver park here and there. He seems like he's pretty much chillin hard, I guess not everyone can keep up with being a pro skater. Nice dude though.

That big stairset is also in denver across the  platte river and down a little bit from denver park. It also has a fucked up rail with minimal landing than a downhill with trees into the river. It's the one ishod crooked in that recent real video and nyjah ate shit trying to backlip.

Visted Denver once, I would move there in a heart beat, such an awesome town. If my memory serves me right, that famous 3 block is on the same river, right??? You guys have the coolest looking spots ever. Plus Denver park is my top 5 of all time. The bowl in the back is freaking huggggeeeee

Let's do it! Photos/Video or in here? Cataclysmic Abyss in full is the first assignment ofcourse (I watched a part or two on Youtube but Imma have to watch it 'cover to cover' and glad to have a reason to.)
