Which is better for an 8.4 deck
« on: October 10, 2018, 02:14:36 AM »
So I've been riding 8.75 and 8.5 decks for a long time but I'm setting up a new deck it's 8.43" Real low Pro and I have two pairs of trucks

Tensor 6.0 : 8.625 axle length so it'll stick out just a bit on an 8.4 deck
Venture Hi 5.25: 8.25″ axle length so it'll be a little smaller than the deck

Does it even make a difference and I'm not talking about the brand I know a lot of people are not big on Tensor trucks I'm fine with them I 'm just asking about which size would suit a 8.4 better than the other would, does it make a difference in the way the board skates?

Also my wheel options are Ricta 50mm wheels and OJ 53mm wheels
I know both will go with the deck I'm asking if one will be any better than the other. The one sticking out a bit or smaller than the deck.

the 5.25 are not 8.25 wide i think, they’re 8.125 wide. i’d still go with them though, i don’t like my trucks being wider than the board

Get the wider trucks if you feel like staying with that size deck and the smaller ones if you plan on sizing down.

I personally like wider trucks and don't care if they stick out just a bit. I primarily ride 8.4 - 8.5 decks now but even when I used to ride 8.25s I'd always use 8.5 trucks.

Wider trucks will give you more room for grinding and better stability on the board, as always its a personal preference thing with skateboarding, but I've found I skate better with 169/6.5 trucks on 8.4-8.6 boards

This. Allows for more room to grind and a better feeling turn. I'm on an 8.25 with 149s and have been for about a year and they don't stick out (or if they do it is minuscule)
