Wow... It's always sad to hear about people passing away, but damn, this sucks... As others have said, Phelper was a true skateboarder. I didn't like or dislike him, but by god if there was someone on this Earth who you could call a skate encyclopedia it would be Phelps.

Rest in peace, and crack a cold one with P-Stone for us...

had some great convos with him over the years (~96-present). he was fucking everywhere. remembered me every time and brought up something we spoke about which I found shocking considering his approach to life and i'm no pro. always gave that real recognize real attitude, didn't playcate, and almost scared me that i didn't love skating as much as i used to, or should.

a couple of friends of mine and i got his phone number a few years back and periodically texted/called him while partying or on skate trips and he'd always be a good sport. Had a ton of hilarious interactions with him. He will be missed R.I.P.

Thank you so much for what you have done for skateboarding. You have been an inspiration to me, and every time I think of how a skater should be, I think of Jake Phelps. He didn't take any of the bullshit with fake ass posers, and would be the voice of many skaters, for years to come. You might have pissed some people off along the way, but its hard to care about that, when you have been one of the most hardcore dudes I've ever known of. Wish I got the chance to meet you. Thank you Jake Phelps.

Saw the ig post while at work. Got immediate goosebumps. Went to sf a decade ago, I was 16, older homie took me to potrero which was brand new and bought me my first beer. I got tipsy easily of course and Phelps showed up. Talked to him for a sec about being from Atlanta, he was real and kooked me for being a 16 year old drunk at the park. Met him a few other times, he was always the life of the party and doing or saying aomething controversial. RIP, hope change doesn't come down too hard at thrasher. Shits fucked.
