Thessaloniki
« on: September 06, 2019, 12:54:24 PM »
Hello Slap.  I’m planning on taking the train up to Thessaloniki from Athens for 3-4 days.  Main focus is skating but willing to check out anything during downtime.  I’ve found a few spots, still trying to find more. Wanted to hear if any of you guys have been there. Any recommendations /suggestions /warnings are welcomed!

Thanks.

I'm sorry I can't help, but even if no-one else posts, could you share your experiences? Thessaloniki is one of the places I seriously want to go. Mostly for football, but would be nice to take my board if it's worth the hassle.

Stroll around the white tower at the seafront and look for "Alekos" statue. You are bound to bump into skaters and will definitely recognise a spot or 2. Visit Microxtreme skateshop in Navarino square for more info. The city is packed with spots, have fun.

Try using street view on Google Earth? I was there once in 2008 but mostly wandered around near the train station. Plenty urban and lots of the usual skateables. Just take your board and street skate.

I watched the cooking show Rick Stein's Long Weekend in Thessaloniki last night. Looks like there is some really good food there. Might be worth a look
