Sadly, that's just what happens to concrete in the northwest after enough years go by. That park is probably from the early 90's. I went to a park recently that was built around 2000 and the surface was the same. Used to be super smooth cement. That's what 8 months of rain each year for 20 years does.

Interestingly enough if you ever get a chance to go to a town meeting you'll find some interesting things when it comes to parks and rec dept it's what that community puts into the designated space and the parks dept tries to panhandle off the other departments to match what others in the community put forth.

once everything is approved and shit like that the parks dept and city will ask each skate foundation too if they'll help out too sadly cities assume they can do a much cheaper job and this is the result or a prefab ARB you can thank Jerry Fowler for his involvement in those metal hunks of shit too.

Bainbridge was rough as fuck when I skated it 12 years ago. I’m sure it’s not any better now. That was not considered a shit park.

A lot of concrete parks get this way but some don’t. Not sure why. I think there are a ton of factors like exposure, temperature, cure time, mix, if it was watered and worked too much, etc.

I used to be super anti pre-fab but I’ve actually witnessed decent scenes pop up around those and I’ve seen a lot of empty shitty concrete parks. I’d rather have a good concrete park any day but the current generation Skatewave shit isn’t horrible to skate. I think they are still wildly overpriced but sometimes they are better than Mr. Sidewalk Guy building a roller skate thingy park.

i actually like it sometimes to skate shitty skateparks, because it is not perfect and you have to improvise. but not more than one time, after that it gets boring/ annoying
