Switched sizes from 825 to 838 because i couldn't afford a new deck and this was all a buddy had. it's actually improved my skating for some reason.

then i got bored cuz of all the rain and laid some fabric down on this old girl mccrank deck and after skating it for a week and then going back to my gripped board i noticed i was putting a ton of pressure on my feet before popping tricks which was killing my pop. now i got jumps!

foy 838
ancient bones
bones reds
thunder 148

girl mccrank (Frankenstein)

indy 149s bones medium top, indy orange bottom with bones washer added (feels amazing)
3 different kinds of bearings
spitfire f4s
some paisley fabric cuz that shit is dope!

Got new spitfire 51mm classics

Girl 8.37” 32.25” wb-14.4”
Venture 5.25 hi with 3 spacers on each wheel. Spitfire cheapshots bearings

I loved both series of Kodak boards. So sick

Polar P9 Oski (8.625 at the widest point)
Grizzly grip (it came free with the deck, all plain black, no stupid bear. thank god)
Indy forged hollow 144 stock
FSWC 54mm
Bones swiss (no shields)
Bronze hardware
Adidas Busenitz RX

2nd one of those in a row. I left the previous one at my parents place but I liked it so much that I had to get another one to skate in Germany. it's not a huge change from a popsicle, so it skates like I'm used to but it hads that spice of fun I needed.

I also removed the shields from my bearings for the first time ever. I have my Bones swiss for about half a year now and last sesh they were hissing and really slow. I took the wheel out and 1 one of them was barelly spinning.
I was a bit annoyed because its the most money I ever spent on bearings and I was hopping they would just last...
So a friend of mine had this older Bones swiss with him that were quite used and shieldless and they were still spinning so fast with no care whatsoever.
So before setting up this board I cleaned the my bearings, oiled them and left the shields out.
I used to think that the whole "removing the shields so dirt doesnt get trapped" was dumb, but I want to try it now...

^ honestly the amount of times i've skated with people who have a bunch of old spare bearings that "dont spin" solely down to dinted/damaged bearing shields is ridiculous. nice setup, looks like a fun shape for sure!

I hope everyone knows that bears are not stupid. It's not the bears fault, it's your fault for not liking him. There's something wrong with you, not the bear. He's killing it, imagine trying to be the entire selling point for a T puds fever dream? Just clarifying.

Edit: you can kook me but it's no antibiotic, the bears are a viral infection. Your individual phenotypic differences are due to polymorphisms in genes or loci affecting the presence, function, and interaction of host factors, such as RNAs and proteins. So there's absolutely nothing you can do to change how you feel right now.

Consider this a genome wide association study.

I skate them until this point, then pop the shield and they're usually good as new; remember, these aren't 'made' for skating but for machinery with (probably) zero impact so they'd never dent/bend like they do when we skate them.

Really glad I stepped down to 8.06, flip tricks are a lot easier and I can do 360 flips again.

How're those Venture 5.25's on that 8.37? Doesn't look too magic carpet-y from the pictures. I've contemplated if I wanna do 5.25 ventures on an 8.25 or just do my usual 5.8. How's the overall feel?

Which ones arent made for skating? Bones swiss?

I remember back in the day that my dad didnt wanted to buy me a full set of new bearings after I broke 1 bearing so he went to this guy that fixes machines in our hometown and got this 1 bearing that was supposed to be the best he had (it costed like 10€ for 1 bearing which is quite a lot, you could get a set of reds for 20€)... This to say that it sucked, it was slow as hell, the wheel barelly spinned. Sometimes what might be really good for machinery might not work in skating.

He also tried to glue sandpaper as griptape on my deck once but it was a massive failure...
Good ol'times!

I used 3 spacers and it doesn’t feel like a magic carpet at all, 8.37 is the widest I will run it on or it will drive me nuts. But use the spacers on a 8.25 and your good for sure! Especially if you have wide wheels like conicals it fills the gap a lil better also! Hope it helps! ✌🏼

Yeah, now that I look back I appreciate his effort, but as a kid I was always bummed. I have a lot more stories about him trying to fix my boards, but I'll keep that for other time. He was trying to save some bucks by fixing my stuff but then I guess he realized he was wasting even more, so eventually he stopped.
We still made some fun ramps and wooden flatbars once in while...

Sorry about your dad! :/

Trust me it’s the modus bearings

Best brand of bearings for the price in my experience, I mean in the realm of cheaper than bones Swiss
[close]

Yeah but then don't they run on grease. Felt like my set of the ABEC 7s were a little slow but rolled nicely. Wasn't sure if throwing speed cream on them was appropriate once they were due for some maintenance.

I heard they did but I don’t mind, they roll the smoothest and longest to me and speed is decent.

I also heard they were euro made not Chinese so that’s another big ups on that price ratio for them
(Cause euro made stuff Is more quality which means it would cost more right?)

That’s the reason I stepped down sizes, 8.25 was a nice middle ground but majority of the time I didn’t realize I was barely flipping my board anymore and 360 flips were such an effort

8.06 is perfect
yes

Once again, they are not made in Europe. Not that it really matters though. You can make crap and good stuff anywhere.

yep, 8.0 is perfect for my skating and size 9 feet, got my flip tricks back

I know it has to do with preference but you can't ignore your foot size

Do 54mm count as big wheels? I feel like 56 and above are “big wheels”. 54 just seems like a nice middle ground size , big enough that I don’t go super slow on the street and small enough that my flip tricks aren’t compromised.

I guess the image makes them look bigger than they are.. then again I generally wouldn't touch any wheels larger than 52mm. In fact I only bought the 52s Im riding now because my local didn't have 50mm bones STFs :P

Baker Kader 9x32 (14.5wb)
Indy 159 Standard
Spitfire F4 Radial 58mm 99a
Bronson Raw

Tinkered with 9’s before but i’m super short and only ever skated 15” wheelbase which is just WAY too big. This feels too perfect. First Baker too, coming from FA’s/Hotel Blue’s this is flat AS FUCK in comparison but I definitely prefer it.

I put the board together, then left the country. It’s still sitting in that same spot. I’m sure it’s fine though. Good shape and generator wood.
