8.75+ probably isn’t ideal if you do a lot of flat ground but just go with your gut! It’s fun to experiment with new sizes and shapes. I find 8.75 to be a weird feeling, I prefer a 9” popsicle it’s so roomy and the wide trucks just take curbs and coping to the next level.
I'm kinda a big guy I'm 250 and 5'7 3/4 so yeah, flipping my board is a little hard for me, So I mainly just do nocomply 180's and 180's. Trying to work on nollies but it's snowing where I live atm. I was thinking a bigger board might feel more stable and more roomy. Does real make 8.75's?

Honestly just spend the extra for the Swiss. It will last 5x as long. Reds are like what, 20 bucks now? Spend the 45-50 on the Swiss and have them last 2 years vs a few months and benefit from that sweet Swiss precision.

If you keep them cleaned and get some speed cream even reds can last a long time. I got a set of the reds big balls a couple weeks ago and I’m really liking them. It may be in my head but they feel just a bit better. As in very slightly smoother/faster. I’m putting together a cruiser and ordered some race reds. I’m interested to see how they do. They claim to not need speed rings and they have built in bearing spacers. Could be a gimmick idk.

Depends on what you’re looking for and price point but I’d recommend looking at these.  The Built-in spacer bearings would be for filmer boards and possibly cruisers.

Bones Race Reds (Built-in Spacers) - $30
Bones Big Balls Reds - $25
Independent Black Precisions - $20
Bones Reds - $17
Shake Junt Triple OGs - $17
Lucky ABEC-7 - $15
Independent GP-7s - $15
Zealous (Built-in Spacers) - $13
Spitfire Cheapshots - $10
Mini-Logos (Reds w/ Unremovable Shield) - $10

Not a gimmick at all but you could have saved $17 and went with some Zealous bearings. Both are solid.  The point of it is to be able to crank down your axel nut so there’s no speed wobble and/or to make less noise to destruct from what you’re filming.  With a cruiser I’d personally stick with traditional bearings as they’d be faster but if I bombed giant hills or filmed I’d use them.

No giant hill yet but maybe one day lol. From what I’ve read I think the race reds will do what I need in conjunction with the ATF wheels I have coming. The $17 idntca big deal to me but for sone reason I still can’t justify to myself spending $60-$150 Dow Swiss or ceramic bearings. That’s just me though.

So I updated my board and threw some 99a 52mm Spitfire F4 Radial Slims and some Bones Hardcore Hards on it (originally 103a 52mm and Bones Hardcore Mediums).

The wheels are a huge upgrade and hands down the best shape I’ve ever rocked when it comes to thinner techy wheels. I love how they look as well.  The bushings fixed the constant wheelbite issue but are way too stiff for me but I’m sure they’d get better once broken in but I instead decided to go with Hards on the bottom and Medium up top.  It’s much better than before and I believe I’ll stick with that setup.

I’ve decided to go with a 8.25 or 8.375 Quasi next time and some 149 Indy Forged Hollow Stage 11s to move the WB in slightly and raise the height while not going full Indy 55mm.  These trucks are just too low at my size and the long wheelbase of the Indys are a little too aggressive for me I think... not to mention the level of shit that 147 Thunders are at Smiths/Feebles... fuck a that kingpin.  I can skate it well and pop insanely high but the front feels a bit too heavy for me and it forces me to kick down harder than I have the energy for.  If I was in my prime I’d stick with Thunders and step up to 148s with this board and 149s with an 8.25/8.375.

I’m not sure what length 8.25 I’d go with. I love the 32.375 length of this board but I’d like to compare shapes between the 8.25x32.375” and 8.25x8.125”. The 8.375s are 32.25”.  Since I’m going Indy any would work I’m sure but if I stayed Thunder I’d stick to the 32.375”.

If you didn’t see my last post here are the specs;

Board: Quasi Happiness 8.0” x 32.375” x 14.25”
Grip: MOB
Trucks: Thunder Hollow Light II 147s
Bushings: Bones Hardcore w/ Medium Top & Hard Bottom (Colored the yellow part black)
Wheels: 52mm Spitfire F4 Radial Slim 99a
Bearings: Bones Reds (Shieldless)
Hardware: 7/8 Allen Shorty’s Silverados

Nice, but I wish you’d go into a bit more detail.

Lol sorry, thanks though.  I know a lot of people are curious about this shape but there’s not a lot of information about it out there unlike popular boards such as DLX shapes.

Maybe you should try Thunders but with the Team baseplate. It gives you an additional 1mm of height, and - maybe I'm wrong - I have the impression that the wheelbase is shorter than standard Thunders (I found that the baseplate touch the ledge on nose slides, which is not the case for standard Thunders with the same wheels).

Overall, I find that Thunders Team are pretty close to Indy Forged Hollow in terms of geometry, but they keep the "pinch" feeling of Thunders, and they are lighter.

8.25” flat as fuck
Ace 44
52mm 101 tablets

8.5”
Ace 55
56mm 101 classics

Got the 8.5s when he was doing $35 mystery decks earlier this year and I loved the wood so I had to pick up something from the new drop. (No I can’t tailslide but I was skating a symmetrical deck before and skated this one the same way.)

Curious to see how this will feel.
Polar 8.75 x 31.8 football, 14.375 WB
Thunder 149s
42mm 101a Boardy Cakes
Spitfire Cheapshots

While I don’t really have any issues with dark wheels like I know some of you have, I do wish I’d known that they were just about to release a «natural» colored version of the 42mm Boardy Cakes when I ordered, I might have waited for them. The dark ones work well with this deck though.

Damn that 8.25 looks like fun.  How are you liking the Tablets?  I was going to try them but I went with Radial Slims instead. I figured they’d wallride, slide and slappy better since they’re rounded but that extra contact area would be nice for crusty spots.

Real 8.25 x 32
Thunder 148
Spitfire OG Classics 52mm
Bones Reds
Thunder Hardware
Mob Grip
