Honest question, what's the advantage of that shape?
Like, what situation will it help to have your nose suddenly taper in and get way narrower and pointier?
It looks like someone cut the nose off a narrower deck and glued it to a wider deck or something.

But everyone is saying it's awesome, so I must be missing something, right?
Or is it just awesome cause it's weird?
[close]
Possibly unpopular opinion, but 90% of non-popsicle shapes don't bring any technical advantages.
BUT you might just really like the way it looks, it makes you feel good when you look down while skating.
And we like to feel good

I agree and I definitely know people whose skating seems hampered by their insistence on street skating a 10” wide shaped deck. But by that same logic, if you skate just as well on a shaped deck you love, then it’s also true that the popsicle is offering you no technical advantage, and it simply boils down to preference.

I personally prefer popsicles, but I also absolutely love the Loveseat shape and I think that for a long time to come I’ll keep one of those around as my other complete.

Adding to that at some point most people hit a ceiling where the effort required to dramatically step up their level is more than is fun. Riding shaped boards and having to learn shit on them or have a different ride experience provides a new way to improve and new motivation. I mean every time I have stepped on a Zip Zogger or something and tried shit on it I've enjoyed it a ton.

Sick setup.  Been thinking about that Polar 8.125.  Would you mind posting a side shot so I can get a look at the steepness of the kicks?

Thanks!

This is my 4th Quasi, and the first one I actually like. It’s listed as 8.5 x 33 but it’s just slightly over 32. Suare kicks, wood feels solid. I stood on a lot of decks in the shop and this one felt the best. There were some other Quasi 8.5s in theshop with different dimensions, too.

Just set up this new There deck yesterday. I'm super stoked on my firs There and on the grip job, my partner and I gripped it together so it's much cleaner than what I usually do by myself haha!

8.5 Marbie shaped There
149 Independents
54mm Orbs "Cory" Duffel wheels
Bones Reds
Mob
Crockett Highs
Jumping on the bandwagon. Nice looking setup all around.

back on an old set of 149s and a hockey nik stain 8.44 with a 14.19 wb and f4 99a 54mm

ventures are dope but feel too sluggish popwise. struggled so long to get used to them, even tho i like how they ride, it's mainly that that made me give my venture setup away.

i got new bushings in my trucks and they feel weirdly sluggish.

EDIT: puffins board is so sick. also i ride jessup now and my harware is mixed. now you know...

passed all of my summer classes, so I set up a new complete with stuff I had laying around

8.25 Real Busenitz
54mm OJ Noras
Ace af1 44s
quantum bearings

the all black Ace's looked weird to me, so I tried to strip the paint with some cirtistrip, which did nothing.  Ended up (shittily) dremeling the hangers to raw metal, and managed to get them polished to a semi-presentable state.  Back on Ace after about a year on Ventures, and Im not really comfortable yet.
