I believe that the glue 8.5 shape I’ve had two of is the same as the proto. I skated it on thunders and loved it. Was heavy into trying different stuff at the time, and this worked (before I found an easier way: just riding an 8, for me, all of the truck freak outs etc go away).
Hope you Like yours! I really liked the tail

My madness has been well documented, but I ended up back where I started- on Thunders. The new bushings feel softer to me than normal, but the washer is already digging into and circumsizing the top one. Maybe I will try the Bones. I did love Thunders on Quasi 8.375s....
I was a Thunder guy (10+ yrs) until trying Aces about 3 years ago now.
I’m a big dude 6’1, 220, and I feel like my trucks are medium tight.
I hated the stock Thunder bushings, as well as the Thunder bushings in the tube; but the hard (black) ones in the rebuild kit were legit and consistent.
That’s all I would ride and still wouldn’t mind if I wasn’t loving my Aces stock…

I went down the bones route for a while, but changed to the 95a thunder bushings from the rebuild kit and they've been brilliant.

Thunders on quasi work so well. Certain decks and thunders just work. I'm loving them on any of the 8.5 dlx decks as well (with the 14.25 wb).

That Label Snuffer looks really great and makes me want to get a  back up, even though I haven't set mine up yet. The SPFs are concerning me a little though.

Listen, I get it. Hahah. Got them on sale and had them in mind for a few newer parks around here. Still debating on the final wheels. What do you suggest?
Boards fun though for the one time I got to skate the curbs with it

You do you. @Esmith5488 SPFs On the street SPFs used to feel very chattery and unpleasant to me but I judge not others choice in wheel. Predictably perhaps, I am all about F4 99s. I'm tempted to set my Snuff up with some smallish Classic F4s.

Can I change my username or do I just have to make a new account

Powell Flight 243 8.25"
Ace AF1 55's
Spitfire OG Classics 54mm
Jessup
7/8 allen
Mini-Logo bearings, no shields

Christmas complete. Habitual board breaker. The Powell/Mini-Logo shape 243 isn't terrible. Mellow kicks. Actually measures 8 3/8". I sand the graphics off and spray w/ clear PU, so it just looks like a blank.

Still waiting on the deck and I'll get some pics. First pair of Aces ever. Skated venture lows as a kid, then thunder 149ers for a few years, then indy 149's and 159's with big wheels. Been slowly dialing it back and I think this setup is going to be what I stick with for the foreseeable future. Aces gonna solve my ghost pop nollieflip issue without the wheelbite and slide issues of thunders. That and I've broken the pivot stem on a couple thunders.

Won't be using this for awhile but I had the parts lying around so set it  up as a crust busting, curb crunching and indoor spot survivor.

-9" Black Label Arkerly 'Spider Egg'  (14 3/8" WB)
-Stage 11 Indy 159 hangers with Stage 8 baseplates and Krux DL kingpin. 88a Indy bushings and 1'8" Bones risers.
-58mm 97a Conical Wide F4s with SKF all-weather bearings (I think this just means they are slathered in a thick layer of grease)
-Scraps of Jessup and Mob.

Why the stage 8 baseplates? What are the differences? Great looking setup seems. super fun

The Stage 8s baseplates work better with the Krux DL kingpin. No need to epoxy it in place.

All other things being equal, a hollow tube can be as strong or even stronger than a solid axle.
