So you couldn’t get your thunders loose enough with stock bushings?

I fluctuate between 136-140lbs and run my trucks medium loose (they carve, but the hangers don't flop around) and the only way I can get them to the desired tension with the stock bushings would be either cutting my top bushing down or running the kingpin nuts barely engaged on the nylock. With the Venture loose trucks bushings, I get the same 90a formula top bushing that firms up the exact same as the stock Thunder ones, but I get to skip having to cut the bushings down to get the tension I want (front nut flush with the kingpin, rear just under 1 thread showing). The $7 is worth it to me to save time and not cut inadvertently my fingers up with a razorblade lol

8.38 Krooked True Fit Mold
5.8 V-Light Ventures
53mm F4 Classics
Quantum Metallic Bearings
Shake Junt Hardware
Jessup Grip

This setup is great! The pop is so much better compared to my last setup with Aces. Not sure if it’s placebo but I think I’ll be using Ventures for the foreseeable future.

8.25 Pizza
5.8 Venture
52mm F4 Spirfire Swirl
Red

DC Manteca 4 with fp insoles

The pizza board has a more narrow nose that I'm used to but I'm liking it. The Manteca have broken in really quick and I'm liking it.

Rad looking setup!

My question with this is given the normal 8.38 is very nearly 8.5 in width, is the 8.38 Tru Fit board the same, in that it is almost 8.5 wide or is it more an 8.3 in width?

Not a worry either way, but I know some boards are slightly wider than listed and others are not as wide as listed.

I can't speak about the 8.38 TruFit but I have several "normal" 8.25 DLX boards here and three TruFit 8.25s and the width is exactly the same. Nose and Tail are identical also, it's just as if the length was taken away in the middle of the board. The only difference, apart from length, I noticed is that the kicks on the Tru Fit seem steeper but don't feel that way when you skate them. I assume this somehow equals out the shorter lever of the shorter wheelbase because the power I had to use to pop doesn't feel much different to a flatter normal 8.25 to which I am very used. I have a IV and two IIIs for the TruFit and the Tail is as steep as the Tail on a "normal" I.
I flattened out the Tail on one of the TruFits to verify my theory and to find out how it feels but I haven't been able to ride it yet.
I'll report back, but I think that belongs in the DLX Shapes Thread then..

I think when I go through the hockey sake decks I stacked I’m gonna start looking for pointy nose decks. I feel they helped my kick flips flip a bit faster and easier

Yeah that is good info.

Definitely just copy and paste that whole reply in the DLX Shapes thread, cause it is worth it and better coming from you than just me reposting someone else (again) which I do maybe too much.

+1 on the concave though. If it's not too much trouble, I'm curious to know what the tail and nose length are on the Glue 8.1 is?

pop trading co 8.25 x 32 x 14.25
venture standard 5.8 w/ super cush 90a bushings and flat top washer
spitfire f4 radial 56mm 99a
skf skate bearings
pig prime bolts (allen 7/8)
jessup grip
skate half cabs

i should have stuck it out with my last deck since it still had about 2 weeks of good skating in it but this pop board is warped and i’ve never skated a warped board before (or never noticed it) so i set it up to see if it works. haven’t noticed anything different really, flatground works fine on it. i’m stoked on the venture sticker lol

But all my other ps stix boards either are warped or have excess glue.

It's been a little over a year since I've skated an 8.38", probably around 8 years since the last time I skated 53's and I have not skated bone stock trucks in quite some time... Hoping this quells the madness because it's mind numbing not liking my board...

Back on the Baker 8.5 B2 again for my daily. Very similar to my personal goldilocks Polar 8.5 with a little more room on the tail for activities.

Baker Andrew Reynolds B2 8.5x32.25x14.38 (not 14.5 as listed)
Indy Forged Hollow 159
Spitfire Conical 54mm 99du
Bones Swiss
Static 7/8" stainless/allen
MOB Grip
NB#1010
Are you saying the regular polar 8.5 is similar to this or the polar p2? I find the p2 and this board to be very similar. I have both in rotation but definitely prefer the b2 as late.

Sized up a couple of mm all around, width, truck/wheel height.

8.5" Welcome Evil Twin
Pepper Galaxy Grip
Indy 7/8" Allen
Indy 149 ti
Bones Mediums (I find the blk to be softer)
54mm V5 Bones X-97s
Bronson Ceramics

Hey Xen! How did you like the Welcome 8.5" Evil Twin with the 149 Indy Titaniums? Got a sheet of that Pepper grip too to try out. I prefer ACE AF1 Hollows but combined with the 8.5" Evil twin (14.25" WB) the setup feels too "short" for me. The ACE AF1's work better with my && twin and Deluxe 8.3" Twins. Just ordered the 8.75" Welcome Evil twin as well  :)

The DLX 8.38 is such a magical shape. Nice looking setup!

It's weird how well the 8.38" works for literally everything. Every so often I'll gravitate toward a bigger setup because I have nerve damage and partial numbness in my legs/feet and I'll convince myself that a bigger board gives me a larger margin of error for my feet to move around. Then after a few weeks/months I'll come to my senses and set up a DLX 8.38" on 8.75" trucks and realize how much better everything feels on it. I also find it bizarre that tail blocks feel way more natural to me on this shape than anything else I've skated (including shaped boards with a square tail).
