the p9/kev1 is a really weird board. in addition to feeling skinny it feels long too.

😮

Thanks guys! Skinny sounds bad but long sounds good. 🤔

I guess I'll have to test one out eventually but I'm still interested in hearing more experiences with it. Actually a "SHAPES !" thread would be nice with a focus on deck shapes but not forgetting the effect trucks, wheels and risers have to how the shape feels. 🤔

does it irk anyone else when they put fairly small wbs on wide boards like that
[close]

No.that shit is magic. you'll start seeing more of it.

Love the small wheelbase on a big board. For the past year or so I’ve been riding the Crail Powerslide shape—9.25 with a 13.875 wheelbase. It’s fun. More maneuverable and responsive than that wide of a board with a longer wheelbase. I get a wide board, which I like, and it’s not as sluggish as wide/long wheelbase boards.
[close]

The Raven shape? I was so tempted to get one for $25 during Crailtap Cyber Monday but I'm trying to commit to buying local from now on out...  Anyway, that shape looks so sick and would make a great cruiser with 55s if it didn't work as a regular board.

Yes, but Crailtap also has a Crailtap logo on the same shape. I’m skating the Crailtap graphic with 55s.

haha well I am just a little guy at about 5'7". That's kinda why I can never get down with dlx boards. It seems like most their shapes have a wheelbase of 14.38 or up. It's hard to come by one smaller than that.

Don’t know how much difference it will make, but aces will bring the wb in by a fair amount (1/8” each truck I think), so you could shave the wb down by about 1/4”, effectively making 14.38 into 14.13 -ish.

Someone let me know if I fucked all that up, haha.

This is true, it'll help a bit but only if he currently skates Thunders or Ventures. If he skates Indys then the difference will be very small.

Fuck I do skate Venture hi's and have been itching to skate a pair of Aces. I just finally told myself to stick with my Ventures and quit my truck crisis cold turkey. But now I'm really convinced.. fuck.

I know it’s already been brought up in other threads, but Ben Degros has several videos on his YouTube channel about choosing complimentary deck and truck combinations which I’ve found illuminating.  It might all be psychosomatic though.

Almost Resin7 8.375 (32.2 x 14.25)
Thunder 149 Titanium w/ cast baseplates, Krux DownLow Kingpin & Bones Mediums
Spitfire 53mm 99duro Lock-In's
Bones Super Swiss 6
MOB M-80
Theeve TiBolts

Haven't skated an almost since my very first deck back in middle school, but it's got a nice broad shape to it with medium concave. Like a more square-ish DLX Full shape. Board feels good so far though, light and snappy.

I always thought Bones & Thunders wouldn't work well together but I've been running with em for a while now and it feels solid. The krux pin washer is digging into the yellow part of the bushing and pushing it down into itself but it surprisingly hasn't bothered me much and turns fine. I'll run with it until they blow out at some point

That seems like a super small w/b for that size board?

Interested to see how it rides.

Awesome set-up though.
