My last attempt at going low, wide and short didn't quite work out, it was low enough (and those 50mm were fucking slow) but the 8.37 honestly felt like an 8/8.25, it just didn't have that 'fat couch' feeling I wanted.

Ventures are still a bit stiff/new, loosend half a turn from stock; less turny than stock Indy, more turny than stock Thunder, so no change there. Stock bushings feel mediumish, they have a translucent look to them, much like Bones/Mini logo bushings do. After they break in, I doubt I'll swap them as they feel fine out of the gate. Really hyped on breaking them in.

Fatcouch success! It's comfortable as fuck - spent a year forcing myself on smaller setups with wider wheels that never felt right. Live and re-learn.

How’s the flick feel with the wider, but light ish (for the width) set up? V interested in the ti ventures

Definitely not the wheels - they were fine on my last setup running krux.

The ledge I was skating is a little more slick than others but still. I got used to it after a half hour or so - I guess I just need to break them in more?

Thanks for the update! This is pretty much what I wanted to hear.

I've had a set for about a month and a bit now, nice and fast, faster than Bronson Raw's, but one or two already seem to be seizing up on me. Haven't had a proper look at it yet though.

I've skated 149s/144s Indy and Thunder (also ACEs at 8.35) and never had a problem getting used to the flik. For me heavier does impact my ability to flik but again, you get used it.

It's a bit more effort but I'd say it's more about timing than anything. The Venture TI 149s are lighter in hand thant 149 Indy TI - I couldn't really tell the difference between them and Thunder 149 TIs but I'd guess they are heavier given the hanger design (more meat).

I like it, just took some time to get used to coming from Thunders.

It's the same foundry so I doubt there is anything special/different about the metal (e.g., different blends of metals, etc.), hanger shape maybe but even then...

Either way, they feel great and I've no problem grinding them; just hade my first bowl session with them, they're not forgiving in the corners but fine on metal coping.

I haven’t fully tried them out, but a quick roll in my state room on the ship they feel nice and smooth. I’m gonna give them a shot in a day or so when I can find time to get off the ship. There’s a skatepark I wanna check out nearby in Bayonne, NJ

update: I skated them for the first time today, they were a bit faster than average Reds, reminded me of Swiss. But that’s just one day of skateboarding. I recommend them so far, no complaints here

Thanks for the update! This is pretty much what I wanted to hear.

I'm a week in on my Redz Big Balls, so far so good. Out of the box I can't really feel the difference between them and regular bearings same goes for Swiss 6 tho, it takes a bit of time before they break in and you can really feel them

If the quality holds up, don't see why you'd need to go to Swiss6 and they're a better option than 1010s hardfucks 6 balls..

haha I know I hate running risers so bad but im so f'ing sick of getting wheel bite. you reckon 56mm spitfire classics is the biggest wheel size I can do w/ out risers before getting tons of wheelbite? I ride mostly tranny but like to mess around on flatground sometimes too.

Yeah, that makes sense. I was gonna say just slim down to 1/8" risers if you're running 58s, but I suspect that might actually be the size you have. No need to switch it up if it's working for you though!

Hyped on the dimensions of this board. 8.75" wide with a 14.62" wheelbase. I think it's gonna be great for bowls. First time trying Thunders. Not sure how much of a faux pas this is, but I swapped in my already broken in indy bushings. Feels good so far.

Hyped as fuck on the Lurkville deck though. No idea who pressed it but it looks fantastic - Only markings on top veneer are "P5" and 2 dots - anyone know what shop that might be? Here's a detail pic of the graphic. I'll update this when I slap the trucks and grip on it.

It's still syndrome, there was a "Meet the Lurkers DVD packaged with the board but no identifying markings other than the P5 and 2 dots. The woodshop thread says its Quincy (which does the Jason Lee/Dune Folklore project stuff) but has the other Syndrome companies listed as Watson so I'm not really sure. Watson does kinda have a reputation as the "old school socal" company and that fits with the whole theme of Lurkville so that would make sense.
