Lurkville 8.0
Custom printed grip from splattergoat (the print is good but the grip seems like any other cheap white-back and was kind of a nightmare to install - I was using an old scalpel I stole from work though so that might have had something to do with it)
Thunder 147's with bones medium
Mini-Logo 53mm 90a hybrids
Shake Junt triple og abec 7's

Wheels and bearings will be swapped soon, I just put them on to cruise around the block in the rain. Board feels really nice, medium almost mellow concave and has great pop.

Has anyone else skated the chocolate the G027 shape? I like how short and low the nose is, the wheel base feels a little shorter than I like. I do like the wood so far, it feels poppy and stiff.

G027 may be the perfect shape, pointy tail stubby nose. Super mellow concave. 4 weeks in and pop still going. The new wood is crispy.

Ok

I've ridden both. It depends what flavor you like, if you like a wider wheel the lock in for sure. Skinny would be the tablets, they both felt equally as fast for me

Elliott Smith fan?

Yeah. Which is kind of weird because for most of my life most of the bands I've been into enough to want to get a shirt or put them on my grip or something like that have been metal bands but I've gotten really into Elliot the last year or two. I'm a recovering heroin addict and my girlfriend died a few years back so I'm sure you can imagine how well I identify with his music. I don't really like music when I feel like the artist is trying to make it sad and deep, it usually just comes off as whiney (hence why I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiments expressed in "Morrissey Rides a Cock Horse") but with him it seems a lot more genuine.

Man I'm sorry to hear about your tragedy and all the best in your recovery. Yeah I totally know what you mean about most sad music coming off as disingenuous and corny. Elliott really communicates with his music and it always feels sincere. Great songwriter and guitar player as well. I don't have as much of a personal relation to his life story or subject matters of his songs but I think he was an artist who was able to reach out to people in pain no matter what type of pain it is. Either/Or through From a Basement is always in rotation but there's not a Smith album I don't like.

Anyways, cool set up!

Thanks dude. It's mostly all good now. Here's the other new deck I set up today.

ScumCo 8.38 Logo deck (Control, not Pennswood)
Black Magic grip that I really fucked up, already ordered a new sheet so I can fix it
Indy 144 FH
OJ Little Doodies 58mm ball wheels
Bones Swiss bearings

I was going for a Pittsburgh theme with this one. The 144's are temporary, I have a set of silver 149 FH on the way for this deck but I wanted to try it out so I took these off one of my antihero decks for now. I only cruised the around the block a couple times but it felt amazing and I think once I have it all set up and broken in it's going to be my new daily driver.

Well for one thing I'm a sucker for gimmicks, and I like trying new things out so I bought them thinking it would just be another one of those things you try a few times and then throw in a box and forget about. Once I actually tried them I liked them so much that I ride them all the time. I skate to/from work on shitty streets and they're a soft 58mm that's surprisingly fast on rough terrain, so they're great cruisers for me. They also roll up the side of curbs really well so they're perfect for slappys and I imagine they'd be good for wall-rides too but I'm a broken down old pussy so I haven't tried that yet.

Basically I ride them because they're really fun and something different. They're pretty hard to find but if you come across a set somewhere I definitely recommend giving them a try. Definitely not for everyone but if you don't take your skating too seriously they're a blast.

Damn you have a lot of patience with board set ups. I can only do black with the occasional line here or there. Might get more creative next time.

I'm a graphic designer by trade (though not working as one right now) so I'm used to tedious work. This didn't actually take that long though and the bottom part wasn't supposed to look like that, I'm a dipshit and had 2 sheets stacked on top of each other when I started cutting and had to do that to salvage the sheet. I also cheaped out and got Black Diamond instead of Jessup so I'm not really happy with the way it adhered and it's already starting to peel in some places. Learned my lesson and ordered a sheet of Jessup so I can fix it and actually make it look the way I want it to.

I love that shape from the crailtap camp, Carroll's shape as an even lower nose.

i also wanted to try doodies forever, but on a big ass setup,  think they could be fun.

the color coordination on the lurkville stresses me out. but i am not a big fan of colored parts in general.

grimple and krooked look sweet.
i am also riding a krooked atm, drehobl 9.25 and really like it. but is ugly as hell, so i'll spare you the picture.
