Both trucks have a little bit of the axle showing in some spots. I would usuallY have another set of Thunders ready to go in case the axle snaps, but I haven’t been able to find any 147’s since April. I had to compromise and get some ACE 03’s and hope they last until Ermico re-starts manufacturing

It’ll be interesting to see what you think of ace 03s.
I’m sure you know this better than I: venture 5.2 lo, cast, are pretty close to 147s in height.

I loved the first one I skated for about a week and a half, then didn’t like it that much for the next week and a half. I chalk that up to how I like PS Stix pressed boards. Really great at first, and then not so great. If BBS made one in my size I’d gladly skate it

I’ve rarely skated anything besides Thunders on my main setup since 2005. One of my best friends was a Theeve sales rep when they first came out so he had me try a set. I skated them for 5 days before giving them away. I tried a set of Indys that someone gave me about 8 years ago. I didn’t like them. 147’s were my first choice, Venture 5.2’s were my second choice, and the ACE lows were my third choice, but with truck manufacturing being halted I had to make a choice. My baseplate rarely touches a ledge on nose/tailslides since the last Thunder redesign. I’m wondering what it’ll be like to not have to push through on slides

I'm actually not 100% sure. I thought it might be generator considering Mike's ties with Baker, but it didn't have a sticker. With that said, it did have the little dimple that is often below the sticker so still definitely could be generator. Also the shape seems to be very similar to Baker's 8.5 OG shape

I’ve been skating them for six months now and they’re fine. I cleaned them not too long ago and had a couple with cracked cages. They seemed faster than Reds, so I’d say they were worth spending $24 on them

Venture 5.8 V Lights
Spitfire F4 99A 53mm Classics
Reds
Diamond 7/8" Allen

Wanted to size down a little for the summer and try some Ventures out. Feels fun so far.  Anyone else feel like they are going through decks faster since everything else is cancelled?

Setup looks nice. I ordinarily don’t really like the look of square shapes, that looks good tho.

I've ridden nothing but popsicle boards with pretty pointy nose and tails my entire life. What's it like riding a board with a fuller nose / tail?
Venture Truck Height:

5.0 & 5.2 LO
STANDARD - 1.88” - 47.75mm
FORGED - 1.85”- 46.99mm

5.0 ,5.2, 5.6, 5.8 & 6.1 HI

FORGED - 2.04” - 51.82m

I enjoy doing nollie tricks way more on a squared full nose. tail shape doesn't make a huge difference to me just the steepness.

For me it is like the ONLY way now.  Feels like there is more surface area to get into slides or grinds easier and the larger/wider/fuller nose and tail seem to force my feet back to bolts on landings more frequently.  I also love how they look under my feet.  They just have a smooth, clean vibe to me.

Only drawback thus far has been that you do have to push shove it tricks a little bit harder than a more tapered shape but that has been pretty easy to relearn.

Bummed to hear this since I got some yesterday for my cruiser. I know reds has a good rep overall but they've always been pretty trash for me, super reds too. That's what I get for giving them another chance, I guess.

Basically a new-old skater here, first real setup in my life and I'm 29 years old, currently still trying to nail down a consistent ollie! Definitely wanna make some changes to this setup, but based it off of some of my older favorite skaters, like Mike V (58mm wheels and 1/8 risers).

Polar Dane shape
Venture 6.1 (1/8 shock pad risers)
Spitfire F4 conical full 58mm
Shake Junt Spencer Hamilton grip chopped up
Mini Logo hardware.

The Venture's feel super wobbly to me on stock bushings. I'm 6'7" around 200 lbs, so probably gonna try for some superkush harder duro bushings, based off what I read on here, and considering downsizing the wheels and ditching the riser/shock pad.

Ok

Glad you skating.
Everything is going to be wobbly. For years. I’d highly recommend just skating around for transportation, with like 90% of your skate time, and then work on ollies the other 10% (not a real formula). Try and resist the urge to buy different stuff. When the time comes to get a different board, a longer deck, with a longer wb might be easier, but that’s in the future. Your weight and those bushing are fine.
