That is a similar grip tape job to what I often did a few years ago.  Then I had some 12 year old ask me excitedly if it was a Revive.  I stopped doing it.

Damn

I actually ripped it off from a habitat board.....which might actually be worse now that I think about it. Fuck.

The G027 is a full shape and it 100% tapers to 8” at the back. I believe the G052 is identical except for a slightly larger nose.

The Crail shape guide, for as thorough as it is, doesn’t mention the taper at all. It says “straight rails” which isn’t wrong but doesn’t tell the whole story either.

Could not stay on bigger boards for too long unfortunately.
Went back to skate a Carroll tar heel 7.5 and got crazy consistency. I wish i could skate that board forever.
So i bought this to replace it.

Magenta 7.6 black magic grip.
Venture 5.0 lo. Stock green bushings. Nut above flush.
F4 spit 50mm with swiss 6.
And diamond harware. 7/8th

Only skating shelltoes still size 12. Nothing like them.
Experiment 1s are just to chill. Seriously feel like slippers.

The Crail shape guide, for as thorough as it is, doesn’t mention the taper at all. It says “straight rails” which isn’t wrong but doesn’t tell the whole story either.

Fuck, you’re right. I went to measure it. Basically 8.25 right before and after the front bolts. Shovel nose shape (not as crazy as an FA).
At the back truck before the bolts is like a 8.2, then I wouldn’t say true 8’ but more like 8.1 after the bolts. Still looks like a full round tail tho.

Funny thing is that with naked eye I couldn’t tell that taper at all and I have the 1st Niels Bennett deck on the wall, which is a G50 shape and I could swear it tapers more, but after measuring it actually doesn’t. It’s just a shorter tail and a pointier nose but no taper... tricks the eye tho.

I skated a Brophy G027 and could deffo feel the taper on fakie tricks, I liked it enough to get another one for the pile...It's mad that it's called an 8.25 at all really lol, when i compared it to other 8.25s I have with straight rails, it deffo looks and feels smaller. Great shape though.

I can relate to this! Big boards are fun, but I always find my way home to sub 8 and shelltoes. Love the setup

Its weird i could ride loose low 5.0 ventures on  a small board and wheelbite about the same or less than a bigger board with higher trucks. Dont get me started on 5.2 low ventures on bigger boards. And shelltoes just fucking grip and last long. Specially since black magic kills shoes.

I absolutely agree about the lo's.. btw I was on Orchards site on lunch break and Robbie G. has a 7.5 out now (you may already know this) and the measurements look ideal..I copped one.. I really shouldn't have, but I did.

I was on fb market place looking for a new pair of ventures and then found this board from the early 2000s for $60.

Deck: 7.75, idk what company, maybe a mini logo?

Trucks: grind kings, i don't know which ones but there the ones with the inverted kingpin so i knew i needed them.

Wheels: Quim Cardona wheels im guessing there 54mm and there my favorite type, swirl wheels, but idk what company they ar so if someone knows and could tell me that would be sick.

Bearings: Bronson g2s i put on after i bought it

Hardware: shortys hardware i also put on after i bought it

Grip tape: No clue

I haven't had much time on the board but from how it feels so far i love it. Im pretty sure the bushings have dried out because no mater how loose i make them there really tight but i have a pair of shortys doh doh bushings coming in so i wont have to deal with those forever. Id say how the trucks are for skating a ledge or something like that but im just recovering from an injury so i only wanted to skate flat.

Bones Big Balls

Was skating a Sci Fi Fantasy 8.25 I picked up on a trip for a month before this so I spent most of my session getting used to the longer wheelbase. Feels great now though. Also threw some new indy hard conical bushings in my trucks after the bones hard ones I had got squished and kept coming rattly loose every session. Need to remember to only make one change at a time or my sessions are going to suck.

Yeah! Making the most of what you have!

Those Indy are most likely older, stage 8 or even 7 with a removable kingpin, because stage 9 never had six hole baseplates and most of the older ones just look so thick and solid throughout the hanger area too.  Compare to any of these from my other post:

https://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=97297.msg3516442#msg3516442

I am curious as to what stage they are now, more than anything.

Guessing they still skate well too?
Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Wanted to reduce the amount of money I spend on skateboarding so now I'm preferring local brands since foreign ones prices went up like crazy due to covid.
Sunrise boards are pretty good, Clutch I believe, but this particular one had a hideous graphic so I spray painted it.
8.5 x 32
WB: 14.17

Sir, I'm going to politely, but firmly, ask you and your common sense to leave this establishment.
