Who makes skate deluxe blanks ?

I‘m not quite sure since the information is nowhere to be found neither on their decks nor on their website. Compared to asked price for BBS decks in Germany it is quite cheap so I guess they might be pressed at hlc. Nevertheless I really like the shape and the wood seems to be good. So I don‘t really care, hope this helps
[close]

If there's any distinguishing marks on it (stamps, alignment marks, mold #'s etc) someone might be able to tell you what it is. I do know that 8.25 x 31.5 14wb is a pretty common stock size for Chinese wood though. DSM does a lot of boards in that flavor but they also typically mark their boards. Is it really flat or is there a lot of concave? The ones I'm thinking of are pretty flat while most HLC decks I've tried (even the sour "low concave" ones) have a decent bit of spoony concave and the 8.25's tend to be closer to 32" and 14.2"wb. Obviously they could order a custom size, but it might help narrow things down.
[close]

Thank you for the information it is indeed really flat. There was nothing on the deck no stamps, mold etc just 8.25 engraved with a laser. That plus the fact that their shop decks are kinda cheap you could be right that it is chinese wood. I checked all of their 8.25's on their website again and all of them have different measurements which seems kinda weird to me, since I don't think that they have like 5 different 8.25 shapes. Maybe they buy some kind of b-stock or get something that is leftover by other brands otherwise I have no explanation for it

Was it engraved or stamped? Recently BBS has been stamping the size between or just under the front truck holes in the top ply. You can just barely make it out under the sticker in this pic

If it's etched then maybe DSM? The size fits but they usually do a full code that's like 15 digits long l. Or I suppose it could also be from the woodshop crail uses since they laser all the crail boards. I've heard PGI gets their blanks from the same place and they have a super flat 8.25 x 31.5 14wb stock shape but I've never seen one lasered.

I never noticed they discontinued these wheels? I found them at Strange House skate shop's online store but I must have grabbed the last set. I've used Dogtown 60mm 97a K-9 wheels that seemed to be identical in shape/monster truck size. I don't mind other set-ups with 52-56mm wheels, but once I tried a huge wheel it really makes curbs and coping a lot easier. You just roll and smash through everything like nothing. At the 95a-97a scale it doesn't feel "cruisery". This is also my first Polar, I've honestly never really been a huge fan of their graphics/aesthetic but this was in stock at a nearby local and I like how it has wheel wells, never skated a board with them before.

OJ has a 97a Boserio 60mm Combo listed in their catalog on their site. It's not on their store page so maybe it's sold out or hasn't come out yet?

It looked way different then on the Baker board. The 8.25 is way bigger and I think etched is the right word I was missing when typing engraved. I just wrote their customer service an e-mail asking which wood they use if they answer me I could add it to this post If you are interested in it.

Love how nimble this board is with Indy 159s and Bones. Had to swap the Indy aftermarket bushings out because they kept freezing up. The mids so far are pretty solid.

Spitfire classics and NMBs keep it rolling.

Curious - why did you buy him such a massive deck for his first set up? Is he really big? That size set up is best suited to someone who’s been skating long enough to know what they like, who also likes larger than average set ups. Not something I would ever suggest for a beginner.

He's 5'9" with size 11.5 feet at 14. And he's STILL growing. He chose a wide deck as he felt it'd be more stable for him, then we built it accordingly. He's happy with it and he loved riding around on it. All that matters to me (and my wife)

Did not. He was too psyched trying to learn to ride. I'll ask to try it out some other day.

Ha yeah - so rad!!!

Sometimes I get the guilty feeling I want to try a board I have built for someone as I think it would be an awesome ride, but being the shop guy, I build it and hand it over and smile...

Seriously though, at least he is getting a solid board that would definitely take him from beginner to whatever and where ever he wants to go, and that is such a good thing, especially for his size and as you said future growth.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

I didn't want to start a new thread just for this so I thought I'd ask here.

Does anyone know the specs of the Quasi Mono 8.5 shape? The specs I found online seem to say 8.5 X 33 with 14.5 WB, with 6.75 nose and 6.75 tail (So it would be pretty much twin?) My concern is the 33" long, I'm not sure if that's right, maybe someone could confirm/explain?

I've skated 8.5 Quasi decks before and loved them, 14.5 is pretty much the maximum I'd go as far as wheelbase, I usually prefer 14.25 but have skated Alltimers 8.5 with 14.5 and did well on them.

Am I missing something? Or are the specs online wrong? If anyone has info on this, please let me know. I was eyeing one but the length made me doubt whether or not I should.

The mono is a 14.5 wheelbase. I bought a proto and a mono at the same time, thinking the dimensions would be the same, but nope. The mono was noticeably longer when stacked. Made me wish I got two protos instead as I like the shorter wheelbase as well.

Just finished with that deck and it is hair over 32.25 long, with a 7 nose and 6.75 tail, give it take a few mm. It’s a nice shape.

That’s measured straight across. I believe that quasi measure with the tape flat against the board, which accounts for the longer listed length.

Just set this up.
8.75x31.5x14.25
Egg shape with very small nose and tail.
Roman Numeral III
super mellow concave and kicks

149Ti
52mm 99a F4 Classics
Reds
Indy 7/8"
Jessup

Spent the day drinking beer out of my mailbox, then carving down the hill and smashing into the neighbors curb wedge.  Most relaxed I've been in as long as I can remember...

Just set this up.
8.75x31.5x14.25
Egg shape with very small nose and tail.
Roman Numeral III
super mellow concave and kicks

149Ti
52mm 99a F4 Classics
Reds
Indy 7/8"
Jessup

Spent the day drinking beer out of my mailbox, then carving down the hill and smashing into the neighbors curb wedge.  Most relaxed I've been in as long as I can remember...

That’s a beautiful setup. Looks so fun. Grimplestix has the best graphics

Polar Dane 1 “Skyscraper”

Love how nimble this board is with Indy 159s and Bones. Had to swap the Indy aftermarket bushings out because they kept freezing up. The mids so far are pretty solid.

Spitfire classics and NMBs keep it rolling.

This looks great. Also makes me want to try the Indy mids. And a Dane 1.

The Indy mids are excellent. Can’t tell a difference with height, but the grind is very smooth, as is the turn. 169’s will fit the wheel wells better than 159s, still and all a nice combo.

Bought the Dane on impulse after the shape I was riding got hard to find. Hated the square tail but have gotten use to it so it’s all good. Will definitely be getting another in the future. If it had a rounder tail I’d buy a stack.

Ebay has some barely used mids for around 30 last I saw.
