I'm still obsessed with this setup, I hope it rides amazing. I got 55mm OG Classics since it was the biggest I could find and they just do not feel big enough

You need these in your life. Roadcrew Scram 62mmx52mm and hard. Have Rat Bones like profile. I wanted big and heavy to offset Tensor Mag lightness. Will be a curb crushing set up.

HATE the graphic LOVE the specs
Real 8.5 x 32 Tropical Dream Oval 14.1 WB

Plenty of space between the bolts and where the nose and tail start to curve up (fingers of flat).

How are you liking those dimension? I got the 8.25 Tropical Oval coming in the mail. I just set up an 8.25 x 32 x 14 and thought I would love it with Venture Forged because of how much they would extend the wheelbase. Grinds and slides felt fine. Ollies felt way too delayed, so did my FS Flips and Hardflips. But my Kickflips are the best they've been in months. Could be because I'm riding the 5.6 which only comes in HI (instead of LO) and 54mm instead of 52mm wheels.

Almost set this one up on 5.8 Hollows but I think I made the right decision going with the team thunders. The shorter wheelbase with the 2 fingers of flat on the nose and tail makes popping tricks feel effortless, not a lot of force is required to get the board to flip around. Reminds me a lot of the 8.25 x 31.875 14 WB Shape from Primitive. It has a very predictable pop with thunders. Lots of control with the longer nose and tail as well.

Super curious about this new shape as the original 8.5 x 31.8 14.25 wb dlx shape is usually a go to for me. Do you know how it compares to the original shape? Is it similar or does it square out more ?

Very similar nose and tail shapes compared to the 8.5 x 31.8 14.25 wheelbase. Tail is slightly pointier than the nose. Nice normal looking popsicle shape.

Sick appreciate the feedback. Probably gonna pick one up and spray pint over that zumiez style graphic. Shape sounds exactly what I’m looking for

took the leap and sized down from an 8.38 to an 8.25

a couple compromises with this new setup, WB is 14” when i’m usually into boards with an 14.25-14.38 WB, and it’s kind of a flat board. will take some getting used to, but i wanted to support. has a nice kick to it so far.

Fuck those roadcrew wheels look SICK. The OG classics being so sharp on the corner does make me wish they were slightly rounded like that

Primitive 9.12 egg
Ace 66
Triclops wheels 53mm
Flip HKD bearings
Nike Blazer courts

The bearings were in my cruiser and I thought they were Bronson until I popped them out. Surprisingly they fucking go. The trucks are a little wide, but not terrible. Overall I had a great first day on this whole setup. I was skating the Adidas campus adv a horrible shoe, and these nikes were great out the box.

I was initially planning 5.6 V-Hollow but they were too light on the 14" WB deck I'm riding, but the 5.8 sounds like a good idea. Haven't ridden my 5.8 TI in forever, think the weight would compensate for overall floppiness.

Usually, Primitive's DBZ graphics are a little corny for me but this one is very nice looking.

National 8.125 x 32 14.25wb
Venture 5.6, supercush 90a, flat washer
Dialtone Aaron Herrington 52mm 99a conicals
Mini logo bearings, pig risers, jessup, crew sticker.

Hopefully get to skate it tomorrow and see how it feels. Dropped from 8.25 to 8.125 and from 54 stf's (which were around 51mm if i had to guess) to 52s. Been very tempted by this thread (specifically the guy skating 7.875s) to size down more, but I don't know if I'm ready for that yet. Weird to think this time a year ago I was on 8.6's and couldn't see myself ever dropping below 8.5.

How you like the triclops? Are they comparable to F4s, if you had any before?

In the wheel pantheon, I really don't think it's fair to compare a brand tier like triclops to Spit, Oj, Bones, but they are pretty decent. I don't ride spit. These don't feel as good as the bones 99a stfs on my mainboard, but they get the job done.

santa cruz 8.8/31.8/14.25 wb
venture 5.8 hollow w/indy supersofts
f4 conical full 56mm 97a (now 52)
swiss super 6
bronze
jessup
sb dunk lows and highs

went up in wb & truck size but keeping the forged plates, giving it a spin this afternoon
[close]
@Esmith5488 following up on the pop feel with venture forged, way too beastly even for my legs. the lightness paired with the steep angled kicks and extended wheelbase wasnt worth getting used to imo. switched to cast plates and everything is clicking again.

heres what works from my own experience:
cast plates for 14.18-14.25 wb
forged plates for 14.0-14.125 wb
Set up a 9” Santa Cruz with the cast ventures and I’m really enjoying it.

I like the shape of those OJs. Still going back and forth on whether I want to pick up some 58mm 99a hardlines... hope they ride well!

For anyone curious I had the first skate on it and the dimensions/shape are pretty damn good. I've always sucked at having consistent kickflips and would often fuck them up, but today they worked perfect, same with fakie flips. Ended up learning fakie bigflips too. Dunno how well the dimensions/shape would fair on other trucks, but for me it's brilliant.

Dialtones are pretty nice too, had no qualms with riding them after being on spf's for a year. Nothing super extravagant about them, nothing bad either. Decent slide on tricks that need it, no unwanted slip outs. Will see how they fare.

I should really take pictures during the daytime.

Yeah, I compulsively change boards, but I hold onto shoes forever. The mantis dudes are super chill. Wish I had more time to hang around, but I'm leaving on Friday.

Kinda love hate with the OJs right now. The curb spot I'm skating right now is entirely the cobbles in the photo, so the extra contact patch of the hardline or my loophole Vs would be welcome. I feel super tough on them though.

They‘re certainly on the short side but I rode them with an 8.5 before and it was fine. I prefer magic carpet to hot rod (less likely to primo) but might put on some broader wheels eventually.
