I got a little impatient with the grip job so it's not my best work, but I'm very stoked on this set up so far.

With your setups I always know that also comes a new, fresh grip job:) Looks very cool again!

But a quick question on the side. Do you cut the board edge with nail scissors?  *gg*

Loooool you got me there! I was using a worn out razor and I got super impatient when I was cutting the edges off, so I got really sloppy with it. Next time I'm going for a cleaner cut!

Thunder 149 hollow lights

I have had this deck in my stash for a while. Finally set it up and realized that I really enjoy clutch decks.

Yeah I have for sure.  Smaller boards have just been feeling better recently, even for curb skating and stuff.  I really like these trucks, so I’ll probably stick to around 8.0” for a little while…

my gear madness never ends.  I've been riding 8.3 for a minute and its been feeling pretty good, but I have a couple 8.0s lying around from when i was riding that a year or two ago that i'be been wanting to not go to waste.  a kid at the park had told me they were riding Venture lows, and I got curious, and decided to get a pair to try out with the 8.0.

now I really hate the look/idea of low trucks, but I'll be damned if this isn't the best feeling setup i've tried in years.  somehow the width isn't bothering me.  an 8 on high trucks felt kind of unstable, but this feels comfortable.  the turning is weird, but my pop timing is so much better.  getting flip tricks back finally.  still going to take some getting used to, but I'm really stoked on it.

Killing Floor 8.0
Venture lows
old ass Spitfire tablets, 52 probably?
shitty old ass bearings.

venture lo’s, on an 8, feels just right, for me.
i am old, and the lower trucks pop sooner, which is nice.

yes.
it’s a bit shit, in that small wheels can get annoying, immediately, when trying to skate for distance. but flatground, at the spot, etc, lo’s are the best. stuff just kinda works (well as good as it’s gonna), for me.
enjoy the brief respite

Rad looking tech set-up! Currently, I’m running a similar green-dyed blank from them and I love it.

Curious, have you tried the generator blank wheels yet? If so, how would you compare them to other commercially available wheels out there? Thanks!

All new everything besides trucks and hardware.

*Girl g053 (8.5)
*Indy Hollow 159 (with Ace hard bushings)
*Spitfire 54mm Radial Fulls
*Bones Swiss Six
*Pepper griptape

Hopefully this is my last setup of 2023. Only skate twice a week and it’ll be twice a month come November. Gonna focus on the gym and healing my knee.

How are the 54mm RFs? I’m thinking about grabbing the 97a 54mm.

Stable and fast. Setup is a little heavier though. I’m not popping my board a lot due to injury. If I was I’d probably go back to the tablets.

The 97a should be fun if you skate crusty spots. 54mm is the perfect size for this shape. I looked at the 59mm ones and they’re HUGE. The riding surface is insane.

I’m a fan of the Generator blank wheels. Fast and durable. They feel a little sticky at first but once you wear the grooves off they slide great.

Hey, thanks for the insight on those wheels. I decided to give them a shot. Not your fault if I don’t like them though! 😂
