I use aftermarket barrel blue 92- for those of you that ride the conical bushings in harder duros what does it offer you versus the barrel? I've never tried and want to avoid bushing madness, but after break in my recent blues feel a bit hard
In short, the conical bushings give you a deeper turn. Wheelies felt hella unstable to me and I was wheelbiting a bit too much. But I also use Indy barrel bushings in Thunders so I might be weird. If the blues feel too hard, take the stock 90 duro bottom barrel bushing and maybe mix it with a 92 duro top bushing. That's what I ride and I like it.
In theory I would love to do that, but I have a weird peeve about things not matching so I try to do the same color if I can avoid it. Its weird cuz in the past I rode blues tightened even a bit more than now and they felt like they turned more so maybe I am just used to it or its the pivot cups.
I would guess there is a way to dye bushings into any color you like. But I am not sure about that. Maybe @Mbrimson88 knows anything about that?
Or maybe just paint them with a pen?
I don't think bushings colour half as well as wheels do - usually only natural / white wheels anyway, or bushings can only be darkened but not fully changed, eg orange and blue and some other colours will still be a dark orange, or dark blue, but maybe leaving them in boiling dye could make them all almost black.
What I would probably do in that situation is rub your top bushing on grip tape and take it down ever so slightly, so you still get the full bottom height and stability, but when using a slightly lower top, you can have the truck a little more loose. That is a lot easier than cutting down the bushing, so just taking off a little, try that, a little more if needed, then will most likely be good, with the nut down a little more which also helps with kingpin clearance too.
Conical / tapered bottom bushing = can get deeper turns or have the truck feel a little more loose when leaning harder on either side.
Cylinder / barrel bottom bushing = more stable feeling, which can also translate to being a bit stiff, when compared to the other ones.
I find that the conical bottom bushings are almost more of a half step up from the other one, eg:
