Generator 8.5 14.25WB
Venture 5.8 drilled baseplate (rear truck)
Powell Nano Cubic 52mm
ML bearings
Bronze 7/8" allen
[close]

pretty beautiful set up. How do ya like the wheels? My friend set some up the other week

Thank you! Digging them so far, been running the 97 duro since August. If you're into a wider wheel, don't mind just a little extra grip compared to a F4 99, and not picky about the bark sound, I think you'd be into it. A serious ledge tech guy at my local runs them too and doesn't have a problem sliding & flipping them. Being able to hot rod on same size trucks as board and slightly softer landings is an extra plus too.

no. also the clear coat is pretty shitty, at least on the ones i got from skate samples. probably because they don't get the extra clear after being screened.

Dimple / dot between the front bolts still though?

The most recent blanks I got still had that, but they are not new stock by any means.

I skated a Marbie board that was the same shape as this, just a different graphic, and it was by far one of my favorite shapes I've ever skated. Something about the shorter board with mellow concave was perfect. I swear flip tricks felt the best on that board for some reason. Might need to try to pick up one of these if I can find a good deal on it.

Those Blazers are great.  Nearing the end of my first pair now.  Look good in footage too.  Debating if I want to skate my second pair or just save them…

Was previously skating a Blue Tile Lounge shop deck (Toronto) on the left. Felt nice, Generator wood. This board sold quickly and I get why with the sick, simple graphic. Tail is razored down and I'd been skating it for two months, felt like a change.

So mid-session today, I set up an Ishod twin tail slick. The dimensions are 8.25”W x 31.8”L x 14.33”WB as per some shops - but I think it's actually 14.4. Regardless, I was concerned about whether or not the wheelbase (which I'm not used to, usually stick between 14-14.25) would cause flip trick issues.

Thankfully the wheelbase didn't really cause any problems once I went through the kickflip test, though. They felt good, especially for the first session on a new board.

For the slick bottom, I ollied into little nose and tail slides, and a front board, just to see what would happen and it wasn't like I went flying. I don't do tons of slides anyway as you can tell.

And honestly, I really like the twin tail. It's a cognitive shift to think that there's no more nose, but both kicks popped nicely and felt good. Also I like the freedom that this brings me in terms of flatground tricks, I can just do whatever I want now, which is nice because I like to zone out and do longer lines on flat. Might be odd to skate a non-twin board going forward.

I was a little concerned that my trucks were too used to being "nose or tail" trucks, but hasn't been an issue. Although I didn't try any grinds on the new setup, so maybe but I'm staying optimistic.

Wait, isnt this defeating the whole purpose of the V8s and basically just a V-hollows with a solid axle?

think they'd be V-lights exactly, maybe he used the V-8 baseplates on another board with a long wheelbase.

Wheelbase length doesn't affect straight flip tricks that much, it'll ruin your 360 flips though.

That's exactly it. I'm currently using the V8 baseplates with 5.8 V-hollow hangers on my main ride, this is just a flatground setup. In hindsight I shouldn't have brought up that these are V8 hangers cause it doesn't matter at all. They're just self-assembled V-lights and perform exactly as I'd expect normal V-lights to do.
