Generator 8.0
Venture lo’s 5.25(DIY v8 baseplates)
50mm
Jessup, Swiss, 7/8’s Allen
[close]

Enjoyed the Troll Doll sticker, what did you have to DIY on the Ventures?
[close]
Drilled them to have the adjustable wheelbase.
[close]
Been thinking about doing this soon, even figured out how to get them to be +5/16" offset reliably. Too bad I only have a hand drill and no vice :(
[close]

Do you mean you have a power tool drill?  All I used was a very simple small power drill and a 5 mm HSS drill bit, marked out the baseplate and made sure I had the center of the holes punched so the drill wouldn't slip and took it nice and slow, just to make sure it was ok, no vice or other restraint other than wedging it in place.

Some people even drilled the baseplate into a piece of wood, or even doing it on an old board would not be too hard to then stand on it to keep it in place while you drilled out the new holes, just the baseplate, no hanger on, drill from above.

I know I nearly messed up a number of baseplates, but they all still work on the many baseplates I have drilled out, but the one thing I found that worked the best was getting a baseplate mod type thing, like Chems tool, which really helped keep the things lined up.

Could send you a lot more info, video, etc but I think people have seen enough of my efforts on here to repost too much.

* Also 1/4" is ideal for most boards, even though the V8 baseplates are a bit more.
Rad thanks for the explanation. Yeah I meant an electric hand drill. Feeling confident to give this a try at home, 1/4" does seem more reasonable so I'll roll with that. Not seeing too many 8.25s with a wb smaller than 14.25" lately so I'm excited to see how it works.

I love those graphics!
Before reading Palace, I thought they might be some new Killing Floor graphics and I got extra stoked; cool either way tho.

Last year I skated 3 in a row. They're harder if it makes sense to you, didn't find them particularly heavy.
Thing that is weird about them is that they're either super short it super long both in wheelbase and overall length.
The Lucas shape (8.2 x 31.5 x 14 if I'm not mistaken) is quite nice once you get used.
Sir, I'm going to politely, but firmly, ask you and your common sense to leave this establishment.

Lucas shape has a 14.5 wb and short steep nose and tail.

8.25 Control wide nose blank. I'm genuinely surprised at how good these boards are. Definitely one of the better blanks I've skated

54mm 97 Conical Full

Emerica Wino Slip with Fp Insoles

I have a Studio right now and it’s pretty rock solid - you’ll like it. Idk what issues other people have but I always saw them as mellower generator boards

Just the other day I was thinking about how 8.125 would work on 8.25 trucks. Any comments?

more stability, less board. not too much dif than an 8.25 with 8.25 trucks to be honest. as in...you probably wont notice any differences.

Black/gold finish looks excellent here! Slightly off topic: what kinda pants are those? They look like a relaxed/loose chino pant and it caught my attention (trousers crisis at the moment)

Best I can describe is it feels like 8.25”/149, just slightly scaled down.  8”-8.125” boards on 8” trucks aren’t as good for me.

Theyre the Dickies Flex 874. I got them a size biggers cuz I been having problems with their sizing. I absolutely love them.

Dickies sizing is all over the place. I've gotten multiple new pairs in the same size that all fit different.

Now my go-to technique for buying 874's is to get them in longer inseams only, cause it seems to affect the way the top block fits. I've only ever had troubles with the 28, 29, and 30 inseams, whereas 32+ length have more room/higher rise.

That's pretty much only been an issue with size 32 though. If I get 33s or 34s it's no worries, I just gotta rock a belt, which I always do anyways so hey. I have 7 pairs of 874s and some are 32, some 33s, some 34s

I also avoid the flex ones cause they're thinner and prone to pilling, but really moreso to have another reason to NOT buy more pants.. cause I have like 15 goddamn pairs of pants

Nice! Anyone have feedback on same size/style deck 8.3x" with Ace AF1 60? Just slightly wider 8.75" instead of 8.5" axels.

I tried 8.5 trucks on an 8.125 board and found that visually it was okay, but slightly noticeable. I used Bones V3 to minimize the width. Mostly it just didn't skate as well as 8.25 trucks on the same board.

Obviously YMMV, but I personally think 3/8" bigger trucks than board is just slightly too wide. That being said, I love 8.5 trucks on 8.25.

Thanks! Any counter feedback? Haha, just trying to figure some stuff out since we all know a couple mm can mean so much (or so little?) when it comes to skateboarding. One of the reasons I thought going another size bigger specifically with AF1 is I thought I read somewhere that Ace trucks generally run a bit narrow compared to other trucks of the same specs.

It’s so fast. I’m gonna put the 5.8 hangers on probably. I keep missing the lock in. 8.5 is the maximum for 5.2.
I can’t stand rolling full tilt through the dirt at the spot. There a power box right behind the curb so it’s best not to play games like that. I missed on a back 80 in earlier and ended up on my back in the dirt after slipping out switch crooks power slider style across the dirten non deck. There’s no way to go slow on a fakie grind of any kind once you’re in. The momentum from the 180 just sends you down the line cooking always. Super fun but I need a lil more truck. If it was a football then no problem tho.

Forgot to do the before pic but here's my 3-day camp deck/setup from last weekend. Deck was left at the awesome new Sandy park for the next kid. (I don't the hassle of flying with a complete so I just travel with trucks and wheels.)

Diehard Spitfire guy, I chose those wheels for the slick indoor and crusty conditions outdoor at Seek and they worked magically. New favorite wheel.

Loving the nod to Strat on the actual graphic. Also, potentially my last new setup before I get married, pretty wild feeling.
