Real Hermann Stene True Fit 8.5 - more on this
Slappy 8.5 Low profile
Bones X97 53mm
SC Slim Line HSR Rails
Amphetamine 7 bearings
Pepper Grip
1 Santa Cruz sticker, because that seemed to be an issue on my last build

I got this deck because I wanted to try the 8.5 True Fit Mold with shorter length and wheelbase
I picked it up in Denver, from 303 Board shop, all the markings said 8.5
Took it home and it is 8.25....I never measured the wheelbase to see if it a mis cut 8.5 or a mis marked 8.25
I was upset for a while, but in the end it has taught me that I can ride an 8.25 comfortably

I hope this build better meets the community standards...LOL....not really, I like it and that is what matters

Yea. I remember getting the true fit AH Eagle and was surprised it’s 8.25 edge-to-edge. If you measure with the concave, it’s 8.5, but I don’t count that.

In the end, it felt too small. Sometimes AH releases a deck that’s 8.5 with a 14 WB and those are edge-to-edge 8.5 and the extra .25 in the WB makes it feel perfect for me. When I see those specs, I’ll usually try to grab two of them.

Yeap been doing it for 20 years

Get new bones swiss, take the shields off and shake em up in acetone, spin em dry with canned air or something

The set I'm on right now is like 5 years old

It just makes them sound cool, that's pretty much the only reason to do that

Is BBS extending basalt to other brands for consumers? I know reynolds was testing some baker basalts but I'm not aware of anybody getting their hands on anything outside dlx that isn't a pro.

Edit: answered my own question. Thanks for bringing this to my attention

Here's all the sizes they have in basalt over there

All their boards arrive with a roll of pepper g5 which is nice cause that's my favorite grip anyway

Honestly I don't think I'm gonna get another basalt. Broke my Antihero one just as easy as any other deck

8" x 14" wb
8.125 x 14" wb
8.25" x 14" wb
8.25" x 14.25" wb
8.38" x 14.375" wb
8.5" x 14.25" wb

Girlfriend's first setup

• Krooked Una true fit 8.25 x 13.88 wb
• Pepper g5
• Modus 7/8 Allen
• Indy 144 hollow standards (with my already-broken-in aftermarket oranges in there)
• Gave her my other set of bones swiss 6. Put a lil speed cream in there and put the shields back on.
• Powell G-Slides 56mm 85a, which she asked me to remove the graphics from.

She knew she wanted a shorter board with a sweet graphic and cruiser wheels, and didn't really care about the rest. I'm glad I had my old Indy bushings to pop in there so they're already good to go and don't need breaking in.

Originally I was gonna set it up kinda like my rain board, to protect it and make it last longer, and ordered seismic tail skids and 1/8" risers. We talked about it and we're just like, fuck it. She said she doesn't care if the board gets fucked up anyway. Plus the 150mm size skids I ordered were slightly too wide, so at least I know to order the 140mm egg ones for my rain board

The wheelbite will be so extreme that she could really get pitched. Maybe go with smaller harder wheels or riser pads.

It won't, it's fine. She wanted big soft wheels but didn't want to be super high off the ground either. It's the equivalent of running 54mm radial fulls(these are the same width) on a forged indy, venture high or ace or something... I tested it, I couldn't get it to wheelbite even when I was trying. She's just rolling around. Not jumping off shit and going super fast. I already broke in the bushings over a couple months, and she weighs like 100 pounds. I've skated street with 58mm radials and 60mm classics with no risers on loose Indy standards. It's a 55mm high truck. With risers it would be 58mm high. They ain't thunders lol

Yeah in my experience 56mm is more than fine on a 55mm tall truck.

Yeah ,measured and compared directly to an Orange Eagle.

Interestingly enough, Ive noticed the same thing with the Hockey 9"(though pressed in China somewhere not BBS) listed as a 14.62 WB but measures at 15"
