I set up a deck that looked like it was an 8 (and apparently I was sloppy with the tape measurer, because I could have sworn I measured it out to be an 8) but I got home and realized it's a 7.8.  Two tenths of an inch isn't going to make any real difference, but i'm a little bummed.

are those the new thunder 149s?
yeah. you know how the angles of the lows are different than the angles of the highs? they have a similar angle to the lows, but they're taller if it makes sense
somehow i have had the jason jesse deck for about five years and i re-grip it and set it up with new wheels, bearings, and trucks every year, but the board hasn't worn down. it hasn't gotten soggy and the tail devil helps keep away razor tail, plus it's funny to make sparks with it

according to paul over at DLX, the 149s were made "mids" rather than hi or lo because "it just worked the best".  i'am riding an 8.25 right now and contemplating switching to ace 44, indy 149s, or thunder 149s.  right now i have indy 139s and i think a bit wider truck would be nice.

we have one of those "ace truck guys" in our crew. all they ever talk about is "these are the best trucks ever", "you should try out some ace trucks", "i'm telling you, ace trucks are the best". he eventually got an extra setup and so i tried out the aces he had on his other, and they sucked. i skated down the street for not even a mile before i started walking. they feel like a toy store truck to me

I'm riding 149s on an 8.25, 'ill never go back to 139s again.

And i can do all my flip tricks fine.

I pushed around on a board with aces once.  They were way looser than I ride them so I couldn't get a great feel on how they turned compared to indys, but they turned decently.  I know a few guys who went from "indy for life" to "man, these aces are pretty cool."

I tried ace trucks twice.
They do turn really well but I just didn't like the way they felt.
If i rode any other truck it'd be thunders or ventures.

i grew up more on stage 9's than any other indys, i had stage 8s way back when i started but that was ultra-tight trucks flip trick only times, so i didn't get much feel for them.  with ace i think they are attracting the dudes who rode stage 8s and prior trucks, who weren't happy when indy changed the geometry in stage 9s.  9/10s of guys i see riding aces are guys who didn't want to make the switch from stage 8s to 9's but had no choice.  granted, i have to give them a try that way if they suck i can honestly say indys are better than any truck out there.

Kinda stoked to get a set of stage 10s with a solid baseplate and stronger kingpins.
I did break a kingpin today but these trucks are pretty old and it was way overdue.

im pretty sure its the same king pin as stage 9s, but i may be wrong.  i heard they only changed the baseplate and everything else is the exact same.

yeah i was getting the magic carpet ride with the 139s so i bought some 149s when i get my camera back i'll post a pic of the new setup, i'd been thinking about riding a wider board so i got an 8.25 after i got the board i had to get new trucks which kinda sucked but i'm happy with the end result.

That's weird. I feel really comfortable skating my 8.25" on thunder 147 hi. I was going to get the 149 hi but I couldn't find them in shops around here.  I ride my trucks loose also and never feel any wheelbite.

Yeah I skated a 8.25 with 139s for years and wasn't bothered, but i just decided i wanted to try 149s and really liked it.

I have a Dan Pensyl Board, that I really like because he is one of my favourites. Other than that nothing spectacular to report, just some ancient indys and some crappy blueprint wheels. I just use the bearings I find in the back of my car, or the ones in the skate shop spares box.
