Jeremy's recent parts and clips have actually been a really awesome and refreshing pivot from his prior skating. Highly underrated.

“All you had to do was skate, Johnny”

It’d be interesting to get more behind-the-scenes info on J-Lay’s twilight years. He loses all his main sponsors practically overnight at 30 and his sponsors claim he’s not skating despite having a gnarly full part ready to go for Vans’ full-length video “Propeller.”

Seems to me he was still skating. The Carlsbad switch tre should have minted him for life!

The fallout from that and the subsequent interview on Jenkem never really felt like they got to the core of whatever happened because Layton was employed by Vans in a corporate capacity. Can’t bite the hand that feeds ya.

https://www.jenkemmag.com/home/2016/06/27/wheres-johnny-layton/
Propeller was a really long video cycle. I think his famous Pulaski trick was like 3 year old before Propeller dropped.

My guess is he had footage stacked, but then stopped producing. Which you can get by with. How he got dropped and Josh Harmony kepts his board made no sense at the time and still doesn't.

Yeah, the whole Layton thing seems fucked.
Because as stated above he had that part ready to go right after Propeller came out, and yeah, wtf with keeping Harmony.
Seems weird that even his teammate/homie would call him out for not skating.
The rawest deal or something more to the story here…

Jeremy’s career is hanging from too fine of a thread for him to be throwing out that calibre of heaters in the rapid fire.

I liked the Leabres interview. I’m rooting for him to get picked up by a shoe brand.

I like how he doubled and then tripled down on the heitor shots.
I thought it wasnt just him solo, shouldve stuck with my og thought.

Have to assume harmony and Layton weren't getting the same money. If you have one guy who's costing way more, isn't skating (that's the rumour) and isn't getting along with everyone you might drop them rather than the guy who is worse at skating but everyone likes and isn't costing much.

I want to like him but his skating is too much southern california style. Also hearing those heaters made me question his self awareness. He’s kind of got that mentality of more “kinks the better” or “flip in is obviously better”

Cephas tried talking him out of it, but he stood his ground. Respect. I wouldn’t think of Heitor as worst style, but I see where Leabres if coming from.

It's funny because his pick for best style, Jon Dickson, I can't stand watching. Controversial I guess but he does this bow and smell armpits thing that is Dylan adjacent but worse imo. I don't think it's fake style cause hes skated like that even in his birdhouse days but I can't stand watching it. You can see it in people that want that style too. Andy Schrock skates like hes a Dickson fan. Obviously way worse.

Dickson has better style for sure but also looks like he wears the same jeans over and over without washing them ever whereas I'm interested in whatever cologne Heitor is wearing.

Got that one pretty quick but knew the expensive song fact.

Davis is getting pretty good with his clues (not that he was ever bad or anything) like he's intentionally giving clues that put people on the wrong path and the krooked pro board slipped in after so many weeks of krooked guest board was clever.

I watched Heitor's parts for the first time after listening to this interview and I gotta agree with Leabres. Maybe I went into it with a jaded mindset but some of those Heitor clips look like satire the way he's spaghetti noodling around.

Can’t believe the boys couldn’t get it after the nickname! There aren’t too many set-in-stone nicknames and that one was thrown about quite often.

I could see the silhouette of the nosegrind but not the skater at first.. similar to dreaming where you’re talking to a person but there’s no face.

Good stuff as always. Stoked for Dono!

This comment just reeks of irony.  I swear slap users with the higher rep say the most “does this dude even skate?” type of shit
