I don’t want to start another trick name debate, but

Double truck grind?
 :o

Never heard a 5050 called that. Maybe it’s just some Florida shit.

Anyways he was trying that trick a clipper during the contest. Seemed like a horrible idea based on how round it is.

I think it's probably more just casually talking/explaining rather than regularly calling 5050s that.

I mean, it's pretty shitty when you think you're cool with someone then find out they're talking shit behind your back.
I agree with Dono, that wasn't just innocent "constructive criticism", it's not very constructive to say that they only do the pod so they can stay in Vans good graces and throw Vans sponsored events. And that they're boring. Especially because this is all after going on the show twice (interview and RSOTW).

I hate when the most bland skaters say they're starting a board brand in order to fulfill some creative itch they have. Like take a pottery class or something, we don't need more generic board brands that fold in a couple years. I highly doubt the Florida man who's hitting church every Sunday who has no unique aesthetic is going to start a brand that appeals to anyone in the dwindling skate market.

I like Blake's skating well enough but god damn that's pretty annoying.

Seconded. I agree with some of what joa said about the bunt, but dono and cephas have a right to be a little upset. I thought their response was pretty appropriate. Dono’s point about joa being spineless and trying to walk back on what he said was really good. If he’s gonna criticize them, at least stand on that shit. It’s been said here before, but joa can ironically dish it way better than he can take it.

That would make sense. I was thinking Cordano cuz they could be  church bros but making special boards for him might be too much

Damn if he got cordano on the team they should call it church skateboards. It would be like that one episode of king of the hill where bobby joins the youth group at church

I agree with some of the things that GH has said about modern Bunt, none of which is even that shady or out of line - they must have some really thin skin for a podcast that historically got their reputation for not only platforming a bit of shit talking, but actively encouraged it (this is what gained them a bit of authenticity and set them apart from arse kissing Nine Club).

They used to be pretty sick and it had some edge to it, but it's all a bit boring and tame now, isn't it? This is a common occurrence for platforms who have grown to rely on money from industry sources - can't upset anyone! At least GH is funded entirely by his followers and not a corporation, so he can remain true to his whole shtick.

So the other day I re listened to the Gailea Momolu episode from way back. Guy takes aim at a bunch of people in the interview and it’s very funny. But there’s two things at play there really - firstly just having that personality to begin with, and secondly being out of skating and able to criticise without fear of alienating sponsors etc.

I think that modern skaters toe this line a lot more - any outlaw image that skaters had or cultivated is long gone. If you listen to older episodes then the questions that Dono / Cephas ask remain largely unchanged - I’d just argue that they’re dealing with much more bland interviewees now that they’ve gone through most older pros or people who’ve left the industry.

Also Gifted Hater is just fundamentally quite a jarring person, so 🤷‍♂️

I’m starting to wonder if it’s just that Dono is dyslexic. Not sure if this is worse or Detroyet, Michigan.

Also, I don’t think they really needed to give GH that much airtime. I don’t watch his stuff but he seems like a troll that has never produced anything that is not just making fun of someone else and is an actual sponsored skater with no video part…

Wild that it has been 9 years of Bunt. Me and the boys were solidly in our 20s back then  :'(
I thought it wasnt just him solo, shouldve stuck with my og thought.

I second this. Are we really going to forget that the term Barn Building didn’t start just a few seasons ago on this thread? I think they’ve reached a point where they’re willing to put out weak episodes just to have a complete season than just having all good barn burning episodes or maybe shorter seasons. But like mentioned already, I think they’ve done majority of the big characters in skating right now so to have solid whole seasons is just going to be harder. The low energy comment is 100% true, not on every episode, but enough to where it’s noticeable. I mean wasn’t there an episode not that long ago where Dono was literally dosing off almost sleeping listening to a story? Cephas doubling down on this critique just made them look weaker and self conscious about the truth imo. I know they’re reading this so I’ll just say that I’m pretty sure Slap as a whole is always going to see The Bunt as the superior podcast over The Nine Club, just take the critique and better your show, don’t cry about it. Also that guy that brought this whole thing up twice on the post office seems like such a snitch!

Bunt rules. Podcasts are tough especially when it appeals to only one target audience. These guys have been doing the thing for nine years and each time I still look forward to listening even if its a skater I'm not that interested in. Some episodes are gona be better than others but if they were all barn burners, none of them would be as memorable.

That's what's up. There's a finite amount of people you can possibly interview in the scene, some of them just won't be as interesting, that can't be helped. Also remember these are salt of the Earth dudes who work full time jobs, Dono is a father, they do this in their spare time, basically. Anybody would be a little lower energy from time to time with that schedule.

I'm surprised to see so many Pals siding with GH, that dude really has a stranglehold on the jaded skater demographic.
I don't hate GH or anything, but his smarmy "I am very smart" schtick started wearing thin for me a long time ago and I can only watch him in small doses. I'd 100% take Bunt over GH if I could only listen to one of them.

Pronouncing it "ashphalt" is pretty common in Canada. Ben DeGros says it too.

The video component lacking music under the interview is why it feels slower/tame. The podcast version hits the same as before.

I love the Bunt but there's definitely been some weak episodes. Maybe they should just record a few extra episodes every season so they can leave the weak ones behind? And let the guests know they have to fire some shots in the rapid fire. The Tosh Townend one was amazing because he's not involved in the industry at all so he held nothing back, that's what we need more of
