Everyone who’s attached to the industry is such a fucking ass kisser now. “Everyone just wants to blame someone” in response to Carroll saying how poorly beibel was treated after filming a mentally ill, scrawny ass homeless person getting pummeled by some roided out gym monkey. Fuck out of here. Lost respect for all parties involved with this mediocre ass interview.

Pretty much where I landed, and why I appreciate Gifted Hater keeping it honest rather than entrenching in the industry.

Never would've guessed Antwan was one his fav skaters...

Koston stole Jeron's trick (nollie noselide on a rail) then Carroll's...I see a kook pattern here...

Looking forward to Mike's 50 for 50

pretty sure I remember McCrank saying in an interview that Koston did that bs tail kf in Yeah Right on the same spot that McCrank did the same trick frontside, shortly after seeing footage of McCrank's trick. might have even been on The Bunt.

cool to see that he seems to be a good dad, since yeah in his Epicly Laterd episode it was clear that he grew up with an extremely unstable family situation

my bad, I hadn’t seen your post when I made mine about eric one upping mccrank. But also, to speak to the biebel incident, the context was that the homeless guy was walking around naked in front of innocent bystanders. That’s why he got punched. In the audio, biebel could be heard saying, “think about if kids were around”. Slap has this weird double standard where if they don’t like a pro, they leave out all context so that they can bash the guy. The person who punched the naked guy was also not biebel’s friend. Biebel filmed it and laughed because he thought it was inappropriate to be naked in public.
It was like 12:30 on a Tuesday or Wednesday night on Hollywood blvd. They also chased him several blocks while antagonizing him in multiple IG story posts before attacking him. Biebel justifiably got the hate that he deserved for that

Also, saying he got 'punched' is a massive understatement. The guy was unconscious on the ground whilst the other guy contined to punch him in the head. It was pretty brutal stuff from memory

Biebel also kept mocking the guy after he was knocked out by screaming “lights out” over and over

biebel showed us exactly who he is and what his beliefs are in the five years since the incident they discussed, i’m really shocked so many people are trying to justify or downplay it

I'm surprised so many people are taking his spin as the truth, that he "just walked by and happened to film some random guy beating someopne up".

IIRC it was pretty much confirmed via Biebel's previous few IG stories before the beating video that he was driving around WITH the guy that beat up the homeless guy, as they are friends, and not "some random guy". They followed the guy for several blocks, filming and harassing him, before stopping the car specifically to get out and go beat him up. After the fact Biebel pretended like he didn't know the guy to make it seem like it wasn't a premeditated attack.

I don't understand the issues you guys are having with the recent Carroll interviews. He's always been kinda laid back, and I find it refreshing tbh. Doesn't he have lupus or something aswell? Hope we see more clips. He said he skates with AVE which definitely brings me joy.

This is why I hate the nine clubs attitude towards shit. People just can’t handle criticism anymore or any critical thinking. It’s all “hating” .

But at the same time ask jeron and mike about their childhood or emb days and it’s “we were beating up and robbing strangers for being different” but it’s fine cause it was them and the 90s and all those dudes shaped skateboarding today so it was a good thing. It wouldn’t be so frustrating if this attitude hadn’t become pervasive throughout society as a whole.

Expecting bro to air out his dirty laundry and frustrations on a podcast is weird as fuck. Dude seems calculated and in a good place in life. He was clearly referring to crail being blamed for the incident. Cutting someone you’ve been good friends with for years is not an easy decision

Just to make sure everything stays valid, that was never Mike and Jeron and they never claimed to be that. That was Kelch and co, the older crew. And by older they were like, 19

Yeah, I also don't think Jeron was a full time EMB kid either, he skated it when he was there like most people connected to World or Girl at the time, but he's SoCal, I believe he mostly got hooked up and connected to that crew cuz of Tim Gavin. But, Carroll's peers age wise at EMB were like Marcus McBride, Karl Watson, Ben Sanchez, Mike York, Henry Sanchez, Chico, Lee Smith, Jovantae, etc. and once they moved to SF guys like Huf and Scott Johnston.

Sounded like Carroll didn't want to talk about the Lakai or Biebel situation and was struggling to find his words, I'd expect the Bunt crew to send a list of topics to guests prior so they can prep or call out things they'd rather avoid.

He said everything there is to say.

Lakai was his baby but is not anymore but he's not gonna hate on the new people because you gotta do what you gotta do to feed your family.

Biebel had already moved onto bodybuilding or whatever you call it and just retired instead of dealing with some bullshit.

I believe certain times they've been told to not talk about things. One example was Jerry Hsu where they didn't ask about him leaving Chocolate.

As a massive fan of Jerry, I know next to nothing about him leaving crail. Anyone know anything more than Jerry was just over skating as a pro? Or is it that simple?

No, he stayed on for another year or so? I'd have to do the math. The "story" isn't crazy or anything, nor public and not mine to tell but he did respectfully quit

I enjoyed the episode, but that part when he was talking about how salty he was about not having a signature shoe was hard to listen to. Mate, you had a what, 20 year run with a signature shoe? And you wanna pout about just getting colour ways, even questioning staying with nike?! What a diva!
[close]

10 pro models and none of them iconic. Janoski's 1 shoe is on the wall of Nike best sellers alongside Jordans. It was so popular it forced Nike to change their royalty payout structure (don't know where I read this but something about Shane O'Neil getting a similar shape just renamed to avoid paying Janoski more?)

The only good shoe Nike put out for Paul are the 1s and they still sucked. Too stiff and heavy as shit.
