that airline story is gnarly man I feel bad for the guy
Most people don't realize it but flight attendants can fuck you just like the police do and then it's your word against theirs but police will be waiting for you on the ground. I worked as a flight attendant for a year and generally travel a lot. Definitely seen some shit. That sucks for Gravette though.
I was on an international flight that got grounded cause some drunk brit was crashing out and the flight attendants went hard about getting us to delete footage cause of some public filming law in the uk. the fbi was fucking pissed at them when they came onboard and we told them we had no evidence to help them cause the flight attendants we're making everyone delete their footage. I'm pretty sure that wasn't true but I aint dumb enough to argue with anyone on a plane. was pretty funny watching the flight crew explain themselves to the fbi why they had passengers delete evidence.
FYI on iPhones you can just go to recently deleted and access all of those videos trivially (assuming your storage isn’t maxed out).
After listening, I can understand why Gravette might be a pain to travel with - the poop stuff is a bit much, more aloof than malicious.
I experienced a (not as bad) plane incident a few years back.
I went on a surf trip to Costa Rica in 2022 and, on the return trip to the US, when we dropped our luggage off for check-in, the Costa Rican ticket agent gave us an unbelievable hard time for no reason at all. She wouldn’t approve our tickets for an hour, and questioned us relentlessly. She asked us things like why I’d visited Costa Rica 5 times prior, what we did on the trip, what we did for work, etc. No answer was satisfactory for her.
The entire line behind us was extremely upset at the delay, but we were equally puzzled because everything was in order. We had no recourse until the shift changed and I asked another worker who had just come to the desk to get a manager on our behalf. A truly bizarre scenario - we’re all working professionals, no criminal records, had clear documentation of everything we did in the country and were let through no problem after the manager stopped her from accosting us, but I never understood why the ticket attendant (not even an agent in secondary) felt the need to give us such a hard time. I don’t think she even had the right to e.g. go through our passport history and ask probing questions.
The moment the manager came over he just waved us through and gave us our boarding passes, but it is crazy how someone having a bad day can just ruin someone’s trip on a whim should they choose to.
