What did they mean by lakai and soty being an issue for Joslin?

I didn't listen to it yet, but I'm assuming they're referring to how a skater's shoe sponsor plays a significant factor in their chance of being chosen as SOTY.

I wonder in general how Lakai is viewed within the industry. Not in terms of popularity or anything, but like are they respected? Are people down with the rebuild?

The transition looked pretty conflictual.
Rick & Mike are still respected and the whole team left (even Kyonosuke despite ties with Mora/Erased).
It doesn't look like the right recipe for Joslin

It only has the name and a few classic models, the rest/what matters is gone.
lakai is now barely better than cariuma and using the name is a fraud

lest we forget the "get out of my swamp" colorway

Etnies X Cronenberg collab colorway.

The story of Arto’s wife kicking the Anti-Hero team out of their backyard pool was pretty funny.

I'm a fan of Arto's photography. I watched his 9 club and he was kind of full of himself. Still going to watch this, good guest to end the season with.

Didn’t watch his nine club but he certainly doesn’t come across that way in this.

agreed. couldn't be further from coming across as full of himself

Maybe I’m projecting, but it was sad listening to Arto talk about regretting spending money on partying.
I don’t believe it’s just the money he’s regretting, he maybe could’ve had a much profilic career in skateboarding if he’d gotten his act together earlier.

Never skated the Etnies Arto 1’s, but loved the 2’s which were pretty much the same exept vulc, iirc.
Funny that he was rumoured not to be stoked on éS, skated a bunch of Vans, never skated his own éS shoe, and the still made his first shoe on Etnies a cupsole.

Also funny to hear him butcher the pronunciation of finnish names other than his hometown, but I quess that’s pretty common with people who lived outside of Finland for decades..

Anyway, I got alk giddy about the interview.
Arto is the best!

Just finished watching the interview, you're right it was much better than the nine club one. I hope he releases a photo book with his skate photos like he mentioned, I'd definitely buy it.

if anyone is curious, here was the shoe. i forgot how popular these shoes were back then.

One of my first pair of real skate shoes. Had the royal blue/white colorway and wish I hadn't been a dumb kid and blamed my shoes for my lack of ability back then.
[close]

Had the all black suede ones... like pillows on your feet from what i remember. Great shoe. His ES shoe on the other hand...could not break them in for the life of me.

Crazy Flip could've had a soty 4 peat...

black suede ones for me as well. would cop tomorrow if they re released - perfect skate shoe.
yo mike mo new age ape style high five with my reborn hand.

I think Cephas and Donovan make the guests more comfortable and they tend to open up more. It’s also probably less intimidating being in your own home rather than Rogers tv set with 20 cameras pointing at you.

What are some of the best/most interesting bunt episodes? Never really paid attention to the show in the past but have been lately, and there are definitely some absolute bangers but also many skippable ones so looking for some suggestions.

I really enjoyed the Blondey interview from the last season, but I know some people didn’t. However, his rapid fire was a barn burner in my opinion. It had me in tears because I was laughing so hard.

Not like Dustin Henry is unheard of at all, but thought that episode was pretty funny
- it definitely comes through in a good way when it’s w/ Canadian skaters they already know
