It’s cool to know he had been planning a sister company too. Makes Jacuzzi Unlimited feel less like a “Uhhhhh, quick! We need a new board brand!” and more intentional.
I felt the total opposite when he was saying that, everything about Jacuzzi feels terrible and not very well thought through at all. It's kind of more embarrassing knowing that it wasn't made out of speedy desperation.

It’s in an episode of fantasy factory iirc. I don’t know if there’s any raw footage I think it’s pretty edited for TV.

Sounds like this guys lived a pretty charmed life but I guess the fact that he ripped and still couldn’t get fully on a team shows the nepotism only goes so far

Too many experimental episodes…

Didn’t recognize the name and thought it would be a fire Canadian homie episode. Don’t agree on the charmed life comment, but for being a Dyrdek lackey I’d think he’d have some crazier stories.

Tough crowd. I liked a lot of his stories. Those early 2000s glory days.

I had absolutely no idea big cat skated like that and actually was close with some of the goats back then. Couldn't stand the dude the few times I watched fantasy factory so this episode actually turned my opinion opinion around. Enjoyed it more than I expected anyway

I never had a real legitimate reason for being grossed out by Mickey papa. Sure I was always annoyed by his voice, his skating, his stupid face and the way he dresses, but now after hearing that story I realized my intuition was correct. I hope Louie had a hand in keeping some doors closed for him because of that incident.
Always felt that Mickey Papa should have took a break and came back, rebranded as Michael Father with a new kit.

Never heard of this dude ever (I have not seen a single episode of Fantasy Factory or anything related), so this was my first introduction. I checked his footage, and he was/is? actually a really dope skater, good shit. Nice and clean tricks, and I can see the Dylan biting in some of the footage, ha :D

Is no one going to call out random skater of the week ft Tim O'Connor during the Louie Barletta episode?

".. but did have a guest board for Carpet."

crickets

Tim: "The fuck is Carpet?"
Cephas: "Whats Carpet?"
Donovan: "It's like a New York thing it's close enough to you isn't it?"

He was actually pretty good - the pj stories make me wonder if he heard and went and did it. When he’d skate by my house if we were there he’d literally see the trick you were trying and just do it. He’s kinda a dick like that. I forgot what trick my friend was trying I think switch varial heel or switch front 3 or something and pj looked over at us and just did it.

Damian Bravo Ep….its in the mailbag.  I don’t want to get it wrong as it looks like a long story and inconsequential… please report back.

I used to see Mickey at the indoor when he was a child.  He would throw tantrums and do like 100 kickflips by himself on flat.  It made feel uncomfortable and I figured kids like that always end up sucking and quitting.  I was incorrect.

Ok but neither of you are a rotating guest on Random Skater of the Week segment on a skate podcast so we wouldn't expect that of you. I mean I get he's washed but maybe stay up a little on the scene if you still want to be a part of it in even a distant way.

I went and checked them out on IG and it’s definitely not my aesthetic so I probably just overlooked them. Also realized I’ve tailored my social media skateboarding feeds to basically insulate myself from a lot of stuff that’s probably considered cool now. I fw sci fi and limo and all that but I don’t really get into the deep cuts. I’ll be over here in my old anti hero hat watching Modus if anyone needs me lol

Idk, I wouldn’t expect a former NFL player with a mid-tier career (I say this because Tim O’Connor never had his own full part, right? Outside of a tour video?) to know all the current players, even if he was a guest on a talk show and still part of the league in some capacity.

But also, carpet is more of a NYC hype brand than a skate co, right? The current site shows no skateboards, just $100 tote bags and $50 tees (and nutcrackers?). I don’t think they even post skate footage. Most people mature out of supreme in their mid-twenties, so it’s hardly surprising he’s out of the loop of some NYC hype brand.

I can’t be bothered to figure out the embedding right now, but they came out with this in 2024. Definitely worth the watch. They do cool guest boards almost every season (eg Koston, Ellington, Bucky Lasek, Shimizu), and while probably closer to a streetwear brand than a skate brand, they definitely are skaters and keep it pretty close. Also out of Baltimore, not NYC, which I think is way cooler.

I can’t blame Tim for not knowing, but calling Carpet an NYC hype brand just ain’t right.

Sorry, but what on earth are you on about here?

I was hyped on Carpet at the start but that interest has quickly faded. Their clothes are too much and they’ve done nothing video or team wise.

They had a full length video dvds and all come out last year.
