here’s what i was trying to say: i had a board delam, it was infrequently used, and over a year old. i’ve had some boards that went soggy, after a few weeks, which didn’t bother me, i don’t need/want a board to last for several months.

Does the 8.5 Proto from the latest drop have flat concave with a square nose? I noticed that the latest ones are BBS and was wondering if the shape is the same as the PS ones.

If not, what shape(s) should I consider? One of my boards is the 8.5"x33"x14.5" Quasi shape, but I want something even flatter.

in the nikolai piombo 9 club interview he says how happy he is that wknd ditched psstix and went to bbs (also pretty funny because the 9 club boards are made on psstix), he cited inconsistency issues as well.

he also apparently skates for like 6-7 hours/day and is super finicky about his setup so if he is over the moon about the switch up, i hope quasi makes the switch too because i love their graphics. i wish they made more 8.75 graphics though

Said it before but Quasi reminds me of what crail was like to me growing up. I completely want to support them but they are too stubborn and short sighted to invest in better boards or at least boards that most of their base would like. I know they offer some bbs but I am sick of looking on their site or in shops just to see that none are my shape. I am certainly not the only in my circles to feel this exact same way.

The Quasi site lists whether the board is PS Stix or BBS, so you can use that in looking for options, either 8.3 in the search, or BBS.

So I just tried the search option on the Quasi site, typing BBS 8 and 11 results came up, a number of 8.3 options, some twins, and one normal shape, at least that is what I am seeing here.

The specific boards are global, so any of the Rowe Plushie graphic will be BBS, but I guess it is also down to the local distributor getting them in and then the shops stocking them.

If you know who the distributor is, you can email / message them and ask, or see if your shop can order any in for you.

That is the best option.

My understanding was that both brands under the same distribution - Quasi, GX1000 - use the same shapes and the same options in wood, eg both use BBS and PS Stix, which is listed on their respective web sites for each deck.

* Just looking at Quasi, there is a mix, but in looking at GX1000 it seems like most if not all are now BBS, but at least they all have where they are from, along with other info.

Riding the father time now and it is so good. The "intertwined" one isn't square, but more thumb and it is a great shape too

It's a mix across the board with the twin tails BBS and there's actually a BBS shovel nose as well. Honestly they need to stick to one manufacturer and concept and I'd actually skate their shit again but even within the same drop there's different PS shape numbers on the same model deck.

They seem to have both. The one I saw was 14.25 and popsicle with mega long kicks. I saw a black one that was a shovel PS I think the same shape as a Quasi. I don't skate 8.5 or shovel noses so I didn't measure or compare it.

AFAIK all the Proto 8.5s have remained Psstix "flat square 14.25wb" Q63 shape. Its used occasionally on others see deplatform ..

This is my go to shape and it is perfect on a much flat pressing result. Now and then i run into steeper versions.

I'd be curious too on alternative shapes for a "8.5 14.25wb square flat" one. The antihero eagle i've tried but it ain't the one.

i used to skate protos all the time and basically any other deck that had the same dimensions w/ the big ass nose.

is the 14.5 wb x 33 length model similar, or is the shape completely different?

The new drop has nice laser etched shape numbers for each deck and woodshop. Too many shapes though. My local confirmed all BBS in the next drop, but there was 3 or 4 different 8.38s and 8.25s each.

Quasi going to bbs is good news for me. Both my quasi decks I skated had issues and I don’t think I’ll ever buy a ps deck again. Quasi has such a dope art style. Probably my favorite of all the skate brands.

Mixed feelings about the move. In general I'd really like to see PS survive as I consider them and BBS the only acceptable Woodshops (highly subjective). Would be sad to have to choose between BBS and ClutchDwindleHlcWhathaveyou ...

Up to now, I had 1 delam in about 30 PS decks. Mine usually last around 3 months before breaking which to me is acceptable. Breaking a BBS I can't recall. On the other hand BBS for my taste feels overly rigid and I really appreciate PS having more "flex". Some might consider this "soggy" I don't.

Still curious on a BBS Q63
