I skated the Primitive and it’s definitely under 14.
I am sure they are similar shapes if not actually the same. Dont know about woodshops though.
Personally i love a small wheelbase but might be too
expensive since i live in Europe
Interesting to note, so I guess the new pro board could have been inspired by the Primitive one.
At least some Primitive boards - the ones we get here in AU - are on BBS, as are the Quasi boards in the coming drop / the current stock that is out in some places, so it could be very close really, Primitive with the mellow molds and as others have said, the new twin with a more mellow concave compared to other Quasi boards, which to me are very steep in the kicks.
* I think those current boards that are in shops have been express delivered, so the cost could be higher than the later deliveries via regular or surface carriers, eg express sent by air so the price of the boards is going to be a lot higher, regular in a container on a ship so the price is going to be more normal.
Quasi is now one of the higher priced products here, but not even close to the most expensive, but I don't know all the ins and outs of the different countries, costs, or delivery methods.
Yeah he also posted in a story on instagram its the shape he skated for years now, so it must be close if not the same.
Primitive might even use Quarter Dist. wood for Europe, not sure.
Difference being the Primitives may be sourced from Quincy Manufacturing in Michigan
I think the warning sticker with the smallest print I have ever seen has the "Made in..." on it, to which people had posted in the Woodshop thread or elsewhere, Primitive boards have been made in Mexico, China and USA over the years, but maybe consolidated now to all being made there in USA for a bit.
Never heard them swapping up different woodshops for delivery of decks to different places round the world, like some brands have done, but I guess depending on whatever current stock is around, everyone is going to get the same stuff these days, most likely USA made, with BBS being older stock now, from what I have seen here.
Re same shape he has skated for years now, I guess he could always get his own specific shape, with either brand just tweaking it a little if they wanted to release it to the general public too, or even having different specs listed, but it actually being the same board anyway.
It does make sense, because some pro skaters will ride the same shape for as long as they need to, eg if everything is working, why change anything up at all.
The era of twin shapes is stepping up once again, with his twin board selling out pretty fast, by the looks of it too.
