For some reason, the switchflip backsmith switchflip really got me. Even though he did a bunch of way crazier shit. Also, HOW THE FUCK is it considered acceptable to cut off the top half of his body in 80 percent of those clips? I get that sometimes you'll shoot it differently, maybe sometimes you want it up close. But the vast majority of that video was just the lower half of his body.... I don't get this.

research on expertise shows that the more talented one is, the more time is put into the field of talent. if you compare musicians in a young age that are described as talented they invest multiple times more time in practicing than "untalented" people, probably because of intrinsic motivation and the feeling of flow

For how tech that was, I gotta say for that for a basic trick, Shane has such an amazing looking switch FS flip. The way they fold is super unique.

It is like Michael Jordan. The natural talent is unreal, but other people have something close to that level. Its the drive to be the best at your chosen field which pushes it to the next level. Some of the tricks in there are tricks I only thought I'd see in Skate. Like Nollie front-noseblunt tre-flip out, Switch big flip front blunt, bs big-spin-front-blunt-big flip out, etc. That shit was nuts.

It would be undeniably GOAT, if it wasn't mostly 4-incher kiddo ledges - a lot of baby scooped flip tricks to second long slides (sw bigflip blunt, bigspin blunt bigflip). I say the tricks, and of course they sound ridiculous, but the footage reminds me of someone skating the box out front their house where the ground is perfect and the ledge has angle iron.

They were mostly normal sized ledges...

Sure the ledge with the bigspin blunt bigflip wasn't big and he didn't slide far, but it was a BIGSPIN BLUNT BIGFLIP OUT.

Yeah I was too distracted by the song choice to focus for a sec. That song is a buried gem. This was the Dion recovery album after a years long heroin fog that commercially flopped. Who knows, maybe the rights were cheap as a result. Couple other bangers on that album
