Wait did #forcethechief work? I didn’t watch the zero video but is Hugo in it?

The chief needs Hugo way more than he needs the chief. Shouts out to Dime.

zero's target demographic either finally killed their fathers and are serving time in prison, or sought out therapy and no logier identify with zero .

I feel like the chief has enough money leftover from back when blackbox was super successful to float this brand for the time being.

when blackbox was super successful

Is that something that Blackbox ever was? He scaled up the business, couldn't sustain it, dismissed staff and sold the carcass of the business to Dwindle.

Doubt it, seems like he put whatever funds he had an auctioned off his car to try to keep BB afloat after the
1) Fallen warehouse fire
2) Moldy shipment of Fallen shoes
3) Economic crash of 2009

After that it was survival mode: going to Dwindle, cutting Fallen and Mystery

Doubt he would be putting his prized car, auctioning off boards and trying to swindle a fan to buy the Mystery collection if he was rolling in cash. I would like to believe he is a desperate man making desperate decisions and not a complete shit head.

Zero was pretty damn big here and decade and a half back. I’d see their boards everywhere. Crazy to see zero is where it’s at today, I never woulda thunk it.

Jamie's mentioned that if Zero tanked he wouldn't ride for anyone and would just buy Toy boards..

Not sure how much I buy it, but that's what he says.

Had a Zero board over Jan and honestly it was pretty weak. I know it said "Made In Mexico" but honestly felt like some cheap China wood if you ask me. Felt nothing like the DGK I have under my feet right now or the other BBS I've had before. Sucks a brand I was always stoked on, just could never keep up with the times. Time to stick a fork in it.

The first and only zero board I've had, I purchased last year. I skated it three times before I managed to break it skating flat. Maybe it was just shit luck, but it didn't seem to be the highest quality wood I've ever skated. I'm fully aware that I'm fat and shit happens, but it was a bummer nonetheless.

Yeah their board quality is absolute shit nowadays, sad to say but when they were under Dwindle I had zero problem with the boards I rode from them back then. It sucks.

…...This isn't directed at you just didn't want to double post

When your riders haven't heard from their fucking pro board sponsor and have to resort to selling their prized possessions over Instagram, there's definitely a problem with your business Chief.

Anybody know WHO is distributing Zero, now that they aren't part of the dwindle "family" of brands?
Also, what happened there? Dwindle have to make room for Madness and/or New Deal?
forgive me for being so behind the times. Mea culpa.

they are still being made at BBS and being shipped to shops from there. they have an office down the street from BBS where they ship some stuff out of but majority hard goods come from BBS. They still get their price point completes from dwindle (china).

Does anybody remember when Blackbox had their own woodshop?

"Cinco Madres"?

I loved their decks honestly. They were like a mix between Dwindle and PS Stix wood. Not to the strongest boards in the game (chipped easy and got soggy quick) but when they were fresh I didn't think anything was better.

If John Rattray hadn't retired I'd still be buying his models on Zero (given they were my size). I have no other interest in the brand anymore though. Same practice I have with Girl and McCrank, although I'm truly starting to enjoy Girl decks once again so I may stick around even when McCrank retires as I did regarding Enjoi and Cairo.

So many brands, is it too many brands? Are we headed toward skateboarding's .com bubble burst? Only the Olympic committee really knows...
